The best way to run a virtual app in Azure--xenapp

I've written two blogs about Microsoft putting its virtual application RemoteApp on the Azure cloud platform, which translates traditional Windows applications into delivery methods similar to SaaS applications.

Think about all kinds of applications and their future development, but Microsoft suddenly stopped supporting RemoteApp.

As a veteran application virtualization vendor, Citrix's XenApp is well known, and now XenApp has deployed the solution to Azure. With the azure marketplace, you can find a trial for XenApp.

From the introduction of the Citrix website, the architecture of Xenap in Azure is different from that of the private cloud, which relies on the azure architecture to connect the individual server components with Azure Vnet, in addition to the more easily understood virtual machine resources. The storage account is required to support the SQL database, and the load balancer is required to provide an access mapping for the entire architecture (the load balancing thing is actually VPX), as well as a jump Box for remote management of RDP.

From the deployment perspective, Domain Controller is independent, enabling future cross-network hybrid deployments or using Azure AD. Because it is a test environment, the SQL Server, the license server, the delivery controller DDC, and the Access server storefront are placed on a virtual server, and a virtual machine-based VDI and process-based RDSH are released.

This configuration allows you to fully validate the use of the XenApp architecture in Azure.

By searching for the Citrix keyword, you can see that there are now three products that have been integrated into the azure cloud, namely XenApp, NetScaler vpx, and sharefile, covering applications, data, and joins, in line with Citrix's strategic direction.

1. Create a resource group and specify a location for the resource group.

The default is 6 A2 standard virtual machines, if you intend to test heavier load applications, you can choose a higher standard of virtual machine, of course, the cost increases. This is what cloud computing is all about, on-demand, on-demand pay.

3. Azure will verify the availability of resources according to the preparation template. If you pass and confirm, you can continue.

4. Azure will display the terms of use of the product provider. When you click "Buy", Azure will start preparing.

Citrix itself is also driving Citrix Cloud services, leveraging existing Azure, AWS and other cloud platforms to deliver anytime, anywhere access to a wide range of applications through the cloud, while providing a secure enterprise network sharing approach and connecting people to applications and data using a secure and efficient software-defined network.

If you want to do the same test, you may have to wait a while. Currently, the XenApp template file is based on the previous Aure management architecture ASM, which will encounter deployment issues when using the current management architecture arm.
