Windows 10 System Image Backup
Open the Windows Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Backup and Restore.
In the left column, click Create System Image.
- Select the location where you want to save the backup. For most users, we recommend using an external hard drive attached to the computer as the backup drive.
- After selecting the drive, click Reload Assistant next. Windows then lets you know how much disk space is required for the backup and the drives that will be saved. When you are ready to start the backup, click the Start Backup button.
If the backup is larger than 4 GB, you must use NTFS instead of a fat or FAT32 drive.
- After the backup is complete, you will be prompted to create a system repair disc. Unless you already have a system repair disc, we strongly recommend that you create this disc to install the Windows system because it will be used to start the computer and allow you to restore the system free download image.
- After the backup is complete, if you save the backup to your hard drive, there should be a "windowsimagebackup" folder on that drive.
Precautions
- Note: This type of backup does not allow you to restore individual files.
