Recently you need to make an app on your ipad and want to install an OS X 10.9 trial on your virtual machine. After dozens of attempts at a lot of pits, I finally found the correct way to install the Mac OS X 10.9 system on WMware 10. This method does not require a USB flash drive, and since all operations are on the hard disk, the speed will be very fast.

The tools and files you need to prepare are as follows:

    1. Vmware-workstation-full-10.0.1-1379776.exe
    2. Unlock-all-v130.zip
    3. Install OS X mavericks.dmg (size 4.94G)
    4. UltraISO 9.6
    5. Decompression software (7-zip and the like Can)

The tools are ready, and the installation begins below:

First, install VMware 10.

I used the VMware default installation directory because I heard that unlock-all-v130 only recognized the default installation directory. The next steps will explain what unlock-all-v130 is doing.

Second, install the VMware Mac OS patch.

Search a lot of online, download and unzip, right-click Unlock-all-v120\windows\install.cmd, select "Run as Administrator". You will be prompted when you are finished running.

Third, extract the INSTALLESD.DMG and basesystem.dmg from install OS X mavericks.dmg

Take 7-zip, for example, to demonstrate how to get installesd.dmg and BASESYSTEM.DMG.

1. Right-click on install OS X mavericks.dmg and select 7-zip-> Extract to "Install OS X mavericks\". After the decompression, you will get a folder named Install OS X Mavericks, as shown in the contents of the folder.

2. Go to the Install OS X Mavericks folder and open the file named "5.HFSX" with 7-zip, follow the path "Install OS X mavericks\install OS X mavericks.app\contents\ Sharedsupport\ "Find the InstallESD.dmg" and extract it (note that the installesd.dmg of this step is not the installesd.dmg we ultimately need).

3. Extract installesd.dmg to "installesd\", after extracting, go to Installesd folder, the contents of the folder as shown.

4. Enter installmacosx.pkg and the contents of the folder are as follows. Finally found the INSTALLESD.DMG (hidden True Deep (ノ=д=) ノ┻━┻).

5. Select InstallESD.dmg, right click, select 7-zip extract installesd.dmg to "installesd\", unzip the contents of the folder as shown.

6. Use 7-zip to open "3.HFS", there is an OS X Install ESD directory, enter this directory, you find BASESYSTEM.DMG, extract it.

Iv. using UltraISO to convert installesd.dmg and basesystem.dmg to Installesd.iso and Basesystem.iso
    1. Download the installation and register UltraISO9.6. Need a registration code? Find Your Own way!
    2. Open UltraISO, select Menu "Tools-format Conversion ..." In the Pop-up dialog box, select the input image file for our just installesd.dmg, select the output format as "Standard ISO". Click "Convert" to start the conversion.
    3. Wait a little while, after the conversion is complete, a Installesd.iso file is generated. That's what we need.
    4. Follow the steps above to convert BASESYSTEM.DMG to Basesystem.iso file.
V. New virtual machine

    1. Create a new virtual machine: Open VMware Workstation10, click "New Virtual Machine" in the home page or use the menu (new virtual machine in file), select "Custom (Advanced)" and click "Next".
    2. Select Use the Default Hardware compatibility option (Workstation10.0) and click Next.
    3. Select "Install the operating system later" and click "Next".
    4. Guest operating system select Apple Mac OS X (M), version of Mac OS X10.9, click Next. Explain why step two (not step 2) installs the VMware Mac OS patch here: If the patch is not installed, there is no Apple Mac OS X (M) option in the Guest OS selection list.
    5. To set the location of the virtual machine installation, it is best to find a larger partition for the idle control because the OS X10.9 occupies a large place. At least 25G, click "Next".
    6. Select the appropriate number of processors and the number of cores per processor, and click Next.
    7. Set the memory, if your memory is not very large (8G or more), choose 2G or 2G below, so as not to cause frequent swap, click "Next".
    8. Set the network type, select "Use network address translation (NAT)" and click "Next".
    9. Set the I/O controller type, select LSI Logic (L), and click "Next".
    10. Select the disk type SATA and click "Next".
    11. Create a new virtual disk and click Next.
    12. Specify the disk capacity and choose 50G. It is recommended to use the "Save virtual disk as a single file" option and click "Next".
    13. To specify a disk file, use the VMware default generated file and click Next.
    14. Because Mac OS X does not support floppy disk drives, we have to set up the virtual machine's hardware. Click on the "Customize hardware (C) ..." button to find the "floppy drive" on the left side of the popup dialog, and click the "Remove (R)" button to remove it. Click "Close". Then click "Finish". A virtual machine that does not have an operating system installed is created.
VI. Guidance System

Set the virtual machine boot CD: Click "Edit Virtual machine settings", click "CD/DVD" On the "Hardware" page, select "Use ISO image file" in the "Connection" box on the right, click "Browse", select the Basesystem.iso of step four conversion; Select "Device Status" as " Connect at startup. "

Set up the installation disc for the virtual machine: Click the "Add (A) ..." button, select "CD/DVD drive" in the popup dialog, click "Next", select Use ISO image, click "Next", click "Browse", select the Installesd.iso in step four; select "Device Status "Connect at startup."

Click "Turn on this virtual machine", the virtual opportunity to automatically select the first CD/DVD drive in the Basesystem.iso as the boot disc, the first boot is slow, will appear the "Turn chrysanthemum", wait patiently for a while.

After the "Chrysanthemum" turn, the Language Settings page will jump out, select a language you know (the tutorial is selected in Chinese), click the right arrow to indicate the next step, go to the OS X utility page.

This is the OS X utility page, which contains a lot of tools, and the next thing to do is to do a lot of things here, so give a close-up to familiarize yourself with the familiar.

These tools do deserve the word "practical" because of her : Terminal. Well, there's a good saying, where there is a shell, there was a way (Shun Niu B translation).

Partition the virtual disk and install the system we need to do a hard disk partition that can boot the installation system, which does not require too much capacity (8G enough). You can also delete the hard disk partition after installing the system.

1. Select "Disk Utility" and click "Continue" to go to the disk utility. Click on the virtual hard disk on the left and click "Partition".

2. Click the drop-down box in the "Partition Layout", select the number of partitions you want, and adjust the size of each partition. Take two districts as an example: we set the boot partition to 8G and modify its name to "start", the primary partition to 34G, and the name "OS X". Click "Apply", you will be prompted whether you want to partition, click "Partition".

After partitioning:

3. Click the red circle to close the disk utility and go back to the OS X utility page. Click "Utilities" in the top menu bar to open "terminal".

4. In the terminal to view the file system, enter "Df-h" (without quotation marks) carriage return, there will be the following output.

5. Enter the/volumes/os X Install ESD directory: Enter "cd/volumes/os\ x\ install\ esd/" in the terminal (note the space in the command).

6. Enter "LS" and enter to verify that the/volumes/os X Install ESD directory is entered. The files in the directory are as follows:

7. Mount the BASESYSTEM.DMG: Enter command "Hdiutil attach basesystem.dmg" and enter.

8. Click "Terminal" on the menu bar, select "Exit terminal" and switch to the "OS X Utility" page.

9. Tap Disk utility again to go to the Disk Utility page. You'll find something on the left that's called OS X Base system.

10. Restore the contents of OS X Base system to the Start partition: Select OS X Base System, click "Recover tab", drag the Start section to "Destination disk" and click "Restore Button". The system will prompt you what the data on start will be erased, and so on, and click "Erase" right away.

11. When the recovery is complete, the name of the start partition changes. Close Disk utility and open terminal.

12. Delete the/volumes/os X Base System 2/system/installation/packages file:

    • Execute the command "cd/volumes/os\ x\ base\ system\ 2/system/installation" into the installation directory.
    • Execute the command "RM Packages" to delete the Packages file.

13. Copy the/volumes/os x Install esd/packages directory to the/volumes/os x Base System 2/system/installation/directory.

    • Execute the command "cp-r/volumes/os\ x\ install\ esd/packages./". Because you want to copy a lot of files, so this time is longer, do not think it is freezing. Wait--

14. Finally the copy is finished.

15. Exit the console (do not click the red button, but use the menu on the menu bar to exit) and the system switches to the OS X utility page.

16. Close the OS X utility and you will be prompted "Are you sure you want to exit OS X utility?" ”。

17. Click "Select Startup Disk ..." and after a few seconds, the system will pop up the "Choose Startup Disk" dialog, select the yellow hard disk symbol of OS X Base System OS X, 10.9, click on the "Restart ..." button. The system will ask you if you want to restart. Nonsense, definitely reboot!

18. After clicking "Restart", wait for it. The OS system in the virtual machine restarts once, and when the mum turns over, it goes to the System configuration page.

19. I will help you here, then follow the system to point the mouse.

    • When everything is configured, turn off OS X system. Remove the CD/DVD 2 from the edit virtual machine settings and set the CD/DVD connection to "use physical drive".
    • Launch OS X system, click Lunchpad, and in "Other" there is a "disk Utility" and use "disk Utility" to erase OS X Base system.
