What is SOCKS Agent: Accordingly, the proxy server that uses SOCKS protocol is SOCKS server, it is a kind of universal proxy server. Socks is a circuit-level low-level gateway that Davidkoblas developed in 1990 and has since been used as an open standard for Internet RFC standards. Socks does not require applications to follow a particular operating system platform, Socks agents are different from application-tier proxies and HTTP-layer proxies, and Socks proxies simply pass packets without caring about what application protocols (such as FTP, HTTP, and NNTP requests). Therefore, socks agents are much faster than other application tier agents. It is usually bound to the proxy server on port 1080. If you are on a corporate or campus network, you may need to use socks to access the Internet through a firewall or through a proxy server. In general, you do not need to use it for dial-up Internet users. Note that the commonly used proxy server for browsing Web pages is typically a dedicated HTTP proxy, which is different from socks. Therefore, you can browse the Web page does not mean that you must be able to access the Internet through socks. A common firewall, or proxy software, supports socks, but requires its administrator to turn on this feature. If you are unsure whether you need to socks or if you have socks available, contact your network administrator. To use socks, you need to know something:
IP address of the ①socks server
The port where the ②socks service resides
③ does this SOCKS service require user authentication? If necessary, you will request a user and password from your network administrator
