The difference between char and varchar

The length of the char is fixed, and the length of the varchar is variable.

Example: char (5) varchar (5)

When entering char data: characters, numbers, kanji are 5, only 5 can be entered

When entering varchar data: Characters, numbers, Chinese characters are also 5, can only enter 5

There's no difference between char and varchar on the surface.

In fact, when Char enters 1 (characters, numbers, kanji), 5 of the space is fully occupied

When varchar enters 1 (characters, numbers, kanji), it only occupies one space,

The reason for the variable length calculation is that the length of the string is longer, and char is not required to be computed.
