1. QT refers to all the desktop versions of QT, such as Qt/x11,qt Windows,qt Mac. Since QT was first popular with KDE in Linux, many people often say that Qt refers to the qt/x11 used for Linux/unix.
2. qt/e (qt/embedded) was originally a Qt version for embedded Linux systems. QT/E removes the reliance of X LIB and works directly on the frame buffer, thus making it more efficient.
3. Qtopia was originally an open source project on SourceForge.net, the full name of the QT palmtop Environment (QPE), a desktop-like application built on qt/e, Including PDA and mobile phones and other handheld systems common functions such as phone book, calendar and so on. By contrast, qt/e is the underlying class library. Before the QT4 version to install the Qtopia need to be installed qt/e, but after the need. The Qtopia after version 4 already has a qt/e library.
4. Qtopia Core: The original qt/e, renamed Qtopia Core from Qt 4, took Qtopia core and went to Qtopia's product line. Prior to version 4, QTE and Qtopia were two different sets of programs, Qte was the base Class library, and Qtopia was a series of applications built on QTE. But starting with version 4, Trolltech merged qte into Qtopia and introduced a new Qtopia4. In this version, the original qte called Qtopia Core, as the core of the embedded version, can be combined with qtopia, can also be used independently. The original Qtopia is divided into several layers, the core of the application framework and plug-in system is called Qtopia Platform, the top of the application according to different target users into different packages, such as Qtopai Pda,qtopia Phone. But in fact Qtopia core is the equivalent of the original qt/e, still as the base Class library. Starting from Qt4.4, its name changed back to Qt-embedded, before Qtopia renamed QT extended. Its line is Qt/e->qtopia core->qt-embedded.
5. Qt-all is the source code for all versions of Qt, which can be compiled into a Linux version or compiled into a Windows version.
6. Qt Extended (Qtopia, September 30, 2008 ago) is a software platform primarily for electronic handsets and mobile phones using embedded Linux systems (embedded linux-based system). Starting with version 4.4, Qtopia renamed QT extended,qt-embedded-4.4.x equivalent to qtopia-core,qt-extended equivalent to the desktop. March 3, 2009, QT Software announces that it will stop developing QT Extended as a stand-alone product. Instead, some of the features in Qt Extended will be transferred to the QT framework, making QT a richer cross-platform application framework. The last version of Qt Extended is 4.4.3.
