The difference of interaction design between three ios/android/wp mobile platforms

Ios,android, windowsphone is now the mainstream of mobile internet three platform, I have been involved in the design of these three platforms. In the process of design, because of these three different characteristics of the platform, often need to switch roles, and constantly transposition thinking.

Perhaps novice and layman think that iOS and Android are no different, and some even copy the android directly to the iOS design. Others may have always felt magical about the WindowsPhone platform, but just couldn't find how to do it. Today, I summed up the differences between the three platforms in the interactive design, in the process of interactive design, must pay attention to the problem:

The difference of layout form

The classic "tab bar" of iOS

In iOS applications if you want to switch different modules, or the page to switch different columns, often use the "tab bar" this form of control. This classic design has been in use since the early days of iOS,

This is how most iOS apps are designed. Of course, iOS itself is very inclusive, and recently it is very popular in the drawer-style navigation. But tab bar has always been one of the most popular and best known ways for users to recognize:

Android offers 2 ways to view Control

After the Android4.0 specification came out, Android proposed 2 view control methods, one is to add a touch button directly under the title of the navigation bar, click on the menu will pop up the switch column

(such as calendar application click can switch different views)

The other is to add a view control bar directly below the navigation bar, much like the tab bar of iOS, but only on top, and to support gesture sliding switching:

The innovation of WindowsPhone

The gap between the WindowsPhone and the top two platforms is great because WindowsPhone's unique Metroui advocates a return to the traditional reading experience, browsing the contents of the phone like a newspaper or magazine, focusing more on content than on grooming. So the whole windowsphone gives people a sense of what it looks like to be reading a magazine.

WindowsPhone View control is carried out in a way called "Panorama View"

In fact, the contents of the 4 views are on one page, and a page is loaded at the same time. The user's mobile phone defaults to display the contents of the first screen, by sliding to pull out the back of the content ~

This view is very innovative, and easy to read, have to say that browsing experience a lot better. However, it should be noted that:

1 because in fact, these 3 columns are the same page view, so do not put too much content, otherwise loading will be very slow impact efficiency;

2 The interactive design process of typesetting and visual put forward a very high demand; (you have to think ahead how the layout looks good)

In addition, WindowsPhone also provides a way to call a pivot, and the tab bar of the pivot and iOS is not quite the same, but it simply slides to toggle the column:

Ii. Differences in navigation logic

We all know that iOS does not have an entity to return keystrokes, and all returns are done through the back button of the navigation bar.

In the navigation logic of iOS, we can clearly see that the whole program is a page-by-page switch, like a slide. And the return button is to switch to the previous page. So, the return control of iOS is the page.

But Android and WindowsPhone are not, and Android and WindowsPhone have physical return buttons, and clicking the Physical return button controls more than just one page, and includes the last step, like:

Enter page A and click the text box to eject the keyboard. Then click the Back button to-put the keyboard away

So the logic of the return of Android and WindowsPhone is based on the time stream, not just the page, but the action is controlled by the return button.

What needs to be specifically mentioned is that the return logic of WindowsPhone is not limited to applications, but to applications. That means you are currently on the desktop, and then click Back again to enter the application you opened last time.

In addition, in Android4.0, an upward concept is proposed, which is a small arrow in front of the navigation bar heading, and clicking this arrow returns to the previous level of the page:

Iii. differences in the linkages between applications

As we all know, iOS is a closed system, and Android is an open system. We can compare iOS every application is a small room, each application in their own room to do their own things, with each other without any dealings.

While Android is a big office area, each application has its own workstation, but it can drop in or borrow things from each other, while WindowsPhone follows the same way as iOS. When the iOS6 can support the application to jump directly to each other, but that is only limited to you jump out, it will not come back, that is to the room you are the person of the room, and before the room is not associated.

This difference means that iOS and WindowsPhone applications have become less privileged, and as an application you can neither modify some of the system's properties (unless you break out of the prison) or modify the content of other applications. An Android app can control some of the system's operations and control other applications to perform certain operations.

This difference will make Android's application design more likely, as a designer you can design a lot of good features, such as system beautification or system optimization, antivirus, intercepting phones and other functions, and iOS and WindowsPhone can not.

But it also makes the Android system face serious security issues, so it's popular with all sorts of optimizations and anti-virus software.

Iv. differences in multitasking

The difference in multitasking is one word: iOS and windowsphone are fake multitasking, and Android is a real multitasking task.

If you design the application has to download, then the iOS and WindowsPhone switch to the background download is suspended, and Android not only will not suspend, you can also design some secretly run in the background function!

V. Differences in resolution

Pro, do you know how many resolutions Android has now?

Fitness has always been a headache for Android, as the front end is often to the different resolution adjustment effect and ensure that the interface will not be distorted and blurred. The resolution problem not only affects the visual, but also has a great impact on the interaction design. Because these phones tend to have a different screen ratio, you need to consider the different aspect ratio, your interface layout should be.

So when you're designing Android, you can't ask for the layout to die, you should try to make sure that every control is floating, and that you can evaluate the effects of all sorts of weird layouts.

iOS and WindowsPhone will be much better. iOS resolution is divided into 320x480,640x960,640x1136,windowsphone resolution is divided into 480x800,800x1280,800x1136, although it seems quite a lot, but the proportion of the interface is basically no change. So the impact on the layout of the interaction is not very large, visual designers can also use the script to reduce the simple resolution of the problem.

VI. Differences in design style

Design style is the unique personality of these 3 clients, the design style not only affects the level of visual design, but also the interaction design is very important. Especially when considering the dynamic effect, it is necessary to attach importance to the physical and chemical interaction.

The design style of iOS is biased towards the materialized style, this materialization is not only a small button control that makes a lot of objects visually, but you can also add some lively and interesting content to the interaction in order to fit the vision.

Like the latest path, for example, when you enter a store, the visor will have an effect, and the small card will swing according to the gravity sensor. If the interaction on the platform to reflect the design style, will undoubtedly be very pleasing to the user, increase product details on the bright spot.

The Android platform is simpler, with the overall layout and interaction in the same way as iOS, as concise as possible, a sci-fi style is available. The Android platform minimizes the use of materialized animations, because the Android system has a poor rendering of animation, and if it is too complicated, it may make the interface very card-friendly.

I strongly recommend an application called Fuubo, it is a very consistent with the Android Holo style and interactive processing of very innovative products.

WindowsPhone platform is very different, the concept of Metroui requires designers to think more about how to show content, using smooth transition animation. But also to the designer's typesetting and graphic design put forward some test. Therefore, the proposed interactive design people read WindowsPhone interface design guidelines, and usually accumulate some windowsphone interface of the visual interface feeling, or the visual designer will probably blame you oh!~
