The first Developer Preview version of Swift 3.0 will be released in November May 12, swift3.0
The Swift team announced in their blog that the first Developer Preview version of Swift 3.0 will be released on July 6, May 12. The official version will be available in 4-6 weeks. The Developer Preview phase does not have a definite update cycle and plan, but the Swift team said it was trying to control it within 4-6 weeks. According to this plan, Swift 3.0 will miss the WWDC release window, and the team plans to release it with the new version of Xcode at the end of the year.
The GitHub library of Swift will also be divided into three branches: Mainstream branch, Swift 3.0 preview branch, and Swift 3.0 branch. Swift-based development will be restricted to mainstream branches; the Swift 3.0 preview branch may have multiple sub-branches due to more proposals; the Swift 3.0 branch will be used to publish a more stable Developer Preview version, which will be used as a "official release version ".
Because Swift 3.0 contains basic language adjustments and Swift standard library optimizations, the source code of Swift 3.0 cannot be compatible with the source code of Swift 2.2. However, for the first time, the Swift 3.0 language will include the Swift package manager tool for cross-platform application conversion. Swift 3.0 will include the Linux core library.
