The first wayora 25 to eat Wayland crabs
GuideWayland is a new technology. This next-generation Display Server is designed to replace the old X. Org server (X11 ). X11 is used as the default display server by almost all GNU/Linux operating systems. However, X11 has many security risks and cannot be fixed for various reasons. Therefore, for many years there has been a call to design new display servers to replace X11 servers that have been used for decades, and Wayland is a substitute to be expected.

Although the replacement process of Wayland is slow, it continues. Many open-source software, such as the GNOME and KDE families, are actively supporting new Wayland display servers. In addition, the Enlightenment family and others, although not in the desktop environment family, however, the software that is also active in development also supports Wayland. In addition, Canonical developed a display server named Mir, which is used to replace X11. However, it has only made some progress in the Ubuntu family.

As a technical pioneer in the Linux release field, Fedora is always actively adopting various new technologies in their release, such as Systemd and Wayland. Although it brings some negative results-such as release delays, stability, and compatibility are sometimes not very good, as a release for RHEL and CentOS, it seems understandable-Just for fun, new technologies are always fun, isn't they?

Starting from Fedora 24, they wanted to use the Wayland Display Server by default in Fedora, but they didn't do well until the release. They had to put this task in the next version, namely Fedora 25. Last week, a new function proposal draft was published on the Fedora Wiki website, proposing that the Workstation version of Fedora 25 Use Wayland as the default display server for the GNOME desktop environment.

Fedora 25 is planned to arrive in November 15 this year. Of course, according to the "tradition" of Fedora, the extension is certain and has been postponed once. But it doesn't matter. Just wait and get used to it. Before the release of Fedora 25, you can also use the Wayland Display Server in Fedora 24 and report your findings to the Community so that they can better improve the Wayland display server performance. In short, we hope that Fedora 25 will bring us a surprise. Using Wayland as the default display server will obviously play a guiding role and will inevitably lead some release releases to follow up.
