A Understanding CMOS Settings
How do you get into the CMOS settings? When you turn on the screen, there is always a hint that says "press Del to enter the CMOS settings"
We press the DEL key on the keyboard at this time. Now you see the interface of the CMOS settings.
Different computers may have different interfaces, but the common is award, AMI, Phoenix and so on. Although the interface form is different, but the function is basically the same, the project that wants to set is similar. This is the award CMOS Settings screen, is the most common one. In fact, you just understand a CMOS setup method, the others can be analogy.
In the main interface below there are many parameters need to be set, most of the project has already set the correct parameter values, or many options for the operation of the computer does not affect too much, so generally we just pay attention to a few key items on it.
In general, when I set up CMOS, I simply do the following steps:
1, set the factory set value
2, testing the hard disk parameters
3. Set Floppy drive
4. Set the starting order
5, if necessary, you can set a password
Second, set the factory set value
The first step: Set the factory set value.
You see, this "load SETUP DEFAULTS" is "into the factory set value" meaning, is actually recommended settings, that is, in general, optimization settings.
Move the cursor to this item with the up and down arrows, and then enter the ScreenTip "Load defaults".
We enter "Y" to mean "yes, yes", so all dozens of of these settings are default values.
In this setting, your computer abnormal phenomenon, you can use the other "Load BIOS Setup" to restore the BIOS defaults, it is the most basic and most secure settings, this setting does not appear setup problems, but it is possible that computer performance can not be the most full play.
Third, automatic detection of hard disk
Step two: Automatically detect the hard drive.
Move the cursor to this item, enter, the computer automatically detects the hard drive. This is the computer's detected hard drive parameters.
This is the computer detects the main hard drive, it can be set in three ways: if your hard drive is 6.4G, you can use the normal mode only 528M, select large mode, only use 2.1GB, and in practice we all choose the LBA mode. Choose "Y" which is the recommended option for your computer.
You see, the main hard drive parameters are set well. Because this computer only has one hard drive, so we press ESC to cancel the detection.
This computer can receive four IDE devices, simple to say can connect four hard drives, they are these four kinds of access method respectively. Usually, we have only one hard drive, generally set to the first, and the others skip over.
If I have two hard drives, then it's OK to set it like this again.
After setting up the hard drive, we first press ESC to exit the HDD detection item, you see, back to the main settings screen just now.
Four, set the floppy drive
Step three: Set the floppy drive.
Move the cursor to the first standard CMOS setup and press ENTER.
This is the date and time. Now we can adjust them.
This is the hard drive situation, just we detected the hard disk parameters here can see, at this time only a hard disk, 4335M, sometimes we installed a number of hard drives, want to remove a hard drive, you will be operating here, the cursor moved here, and then press PAGE UP, select it as none.
This is the floppy drive setting. You see, this computer only has a 1.44M floppy drive, we move the cursor to this item, press "PAGE Up" and "Page Down" key to change. You see, this is "1.44M, 3.5 inches".
Then press ESC to exit this entry.
Five, set the starting order
In fact, set up the hard drive and floppy drive, the computer can work properly. But usually, we also have to consider the issue of starting from a disk or a C disk.
Move the cursor to the second item, "BIOS FEATURE SETUP", and enter.
This boot Sequence refers to the computer's boot sequence.
If set to C,a, that is, start with a hard disk, that is, when the computer started from the hard drive in the boot area to read the system information and the computer began to work, when no matter A disk plug system disk, the computer is ignored, only from C disk to start. Just like the situation you just said.
If set to A,c, then the computer will start to check a drive inserted in the system disk, if plugged in, the computer will read from the floppy disk DOS system information, start the computer;
If we do not insert a system disk, the computer prompts for an error, let us insert the correct system disk, and if the computer finds that a disk is not plugged in a disk, the computer starts from C.
Setup starts with a, and it works when we install the software for the new computer.
For example, to install software on a new hard drive, a C-disk computer cannot start if the operating system is not installed on the hard drive. Even if you insert a system floppy disk in a drive, if the computer does not read a disk, it is not used, it will be set to start from a disk.
Also, sometimes the hard disk has a virus, we want to antivirus, or to search for poison, sometimes to start from a disk.
It is important to save a set of system disks that are absolutely free of viruses, and must be protected with write protection. When we have installed the operating system, we will start from the C disk, which can speed up the startup speed.
Now let's set it to the "A,c" startup mode.
Six, set the power-on password
There are two places in the CMOS where passwords are set. One is the advanced user password and one is the general user password.
The computer will ask for a password when it starts, answer one of the passwords and the computer can start; If you want to enter the CMOS settings, you need an advanced user password.
The computer will be CMOS settings to be highly confidential, to prevent others from changing, and advanced passwords than the user's password is higher in the setting of the CMOS.
Simply put, if two passwords are set up, then use the Advanced password can enter the working state, can also enter the CMOS settings, and the user password can only enter the work, but also to enter the CMOS user's own password to modify, but in addition to the CMOS can not do other settings. If only one password is set, both permissions are available to whoever it is.
Move the cursor to the password settings, enter, enter the password, and then enter, the computer prompts to re-enter the password to confirm, input and then enter the car can be, if you want to cancel the password has been set, when prompted to enter the password direct return, the computer prompts the password to cancel, please press any key, the key after the password is canceled.
Note that once the password has been set, it must be kept firmly in mind. If you set the power-on password on your computer and forget about it, you will not be able to work with your computer, which can be very slow.
If you really forgot your password, unable to start the computer, for the master, open the computer host and then carry out the CMOS discharge, you can let the computer to forget the password, but this to find the computer hardware is very familiar with the user and to refer to the motherboard manual can do, and, CMOS in the forgotten password, Forget all the set values and you must set them all again. Best to remember the password!
Seven, save the settings and exit
The most important step is to save all the information you just set up and choose Save & Exit SETUP, which means saving and exiting.
If you do not want to save the settings just now, just want to come in and see, then choose "EXIT without saving". It means that the exit is not saved, so any changes made to the CMOS will not work.
Here, we choose to save and exit, enter, the computer prompts us to confirm, we enter "Y" can be.
The computer restarts so that the setup is complete.
So the computer can work correctly, if there is no special case, the general CMOS settings do not have to change.
