Before converting, let's take a look at what is GPT and why do you want to convert it?
Gpt:guid Partition table (GUID partition table disk partition style supports maximum volume of EB (exabytes) and up to 128 partitions per disk)
We can go to "Disk Management", right click on the disk model below, see the pop-up menu, if there is "convert to GPT disk" words, your hard disk partition is MBR mode, if there is "convert to MBR disk" word, your hard disk partition is GPT mode.
However: If you install a Win7 (no matter 32 or 64 digits), your hard disk partition must be MBR mode.
If you have a 32-bit Win8 installed, your hard drive partition is still MBR mode.
Only if you install a 64-bit Win8, your hard disk partition may be GPT mode.
1. The partition with which mode has no effect on system operation.
2. If the motherboard supports UEFI, you can use GPT mode to create partitions on disks larger than 2T to install the 64-bit operating system. If the MBR mode is used, the part greater than 2T is not recognizable and can only be wasted.
3. If the motherboard is a traditional BIOS and does not support UEFI, you can only install 64-bit or 32-bit systems using MBR mode on disks that are not more than 2T. If the use of more than 2T disk, more than 2T that part is not recognized, can only be wasted. Also, no operating system can be installed, regardless of whether the disk is greater than 2T or not, if it is running in GPT mode.
4. WinXP does not recognize GPT disks and cannot read and write data on GPT disks, but is not affected by remote sharing.
Random pre-installed Win8 computer, the disk is GPT format, if you need to install Win7 and other earlier versions of the system, you need to convert to MBR format, use the DiskPart command to complete the conversion.
Action Step: NOTE: Converting the disk format requires emptying all partitions and data on the disk, and before you do so, save all the important data on the disk.
1. Use Win7 CD or u disk to boot, into the system installation interface.
2. Press SHIFT + F10 to open the command prompt.
3. Enter the "Diskpart" (Do not enter quotes, the same below), and press ENTER, enter the operating interface
4. Enter: "List disk" to view the information on the disks. Watch the disk capacity to select. 465G Disk 0 is the hard drive, 3852M Disk 1 is for Win7 installation of U disk.
5. Input: "Select Disk 0" and select Disk 0 as the current operation
6. Enter: "Clean", empty the current disk partition.
7. Enter: "Convert MBR" and convert to MBR partition.
8. The operation completes, closes this command prompt window, continues to install the Win7 system according to the normal method.
