The printer is offline and cannot print the symptom: The printer is unable to print, and the status of the printer on the computer is "offline" and sometimes the indicator light flashes.

The printer is offline for failure to print: Use a non-original cartridge or use a refilled ink cartridge. The printer status is not set correctly.

Printer offline cannot print solution: A task that is not able to print due to a printer's offline or print spooler processing failure is stuck in the print task list, causing the print queue to block out of print and the printer status to appear offline.

Steps/Methods

Step one: Clear the unfinished print job

Automatic deletion of print tasks, depending on the operating system to do the following:

In the Windows Pro operating system, click "Start" → "settings" → "printer" in turn. In the Printers window, locate the icon for the printer.

In the Windows XP operating system, click "Start" → "printers and Faxes" in turn. In the Printers and Faxes window, locate the icon for the printer.

In the Windows Vista operating system, click Start () → Control Panel, and in the Control Panel window, click the printer option. In the Printers window, locate the icon for the printer. As shown in the Figure 1 printer:

In the Windows 7 operating system, click Start () → devices and printers. In the Devices and Printers window, locate the icon for the printer.

Note: This article takes the HP Deskjet D2468 inkjet printer in the Windows XP operating system operation method for example, other model printer and the operating system operation method may make the reference.

In the Printers and Faxes window, right-click the printer icon that you are using, and select the Cancel all Documents menu item. As shown in Figure 2, all documents are canceled:

In the Printers window, tap the Yes button. As shown in the Figure 3 printer:

Power off the printer, disconnect the USB cable from the printer, and reboot the computer.

When you restart the computer, the print task is automatically deleted.

Method Two: Manually delete a print task

Do the following with different operating systems:

In the Windows 2000Pro operating system, click "Start" → "settings" → "Control Panel", and in the Control Panel window, double-click the Administrative Tools icon.

In the Windows XP operating system, click start → click Control Panel, and in the Control Panel window, double-click the Administrative Tools icon.

In the Windows Vista operating system, click "Start ()" → "Control Panel" → "System and Maintenance" → "management tools" in turn. As shown in Figure 4, the administration tools:

In the Windows 7 operating system, click "Start ()" → "Control Panel" → "System and Security" → "Administrative Tools".

Note: This article takes the operation method in the Windows XP operating system as an example, the operation method of other operating system can make reference.

In the Administrative Tools window, double-click the Services icon. As shown in Figure 5 services:

In the Services window, click to select any service, press the "P" key on the keyboard, and then locate the "Printspooler" service in the list of services, and double-click the Print Spooler service. As shown in Figure 6, "Print Spooler" service:

In the Printspooler properties (local Computer) window, select the General tab, click the Stop button, and then click OK. As shown in Figure 7, stop the service:

Note: You can manually delete a print task in a folder only after you stop the printer service.

Minimize the Services window. Do the following with different operating systems:

In Windows Pro and Windows XP operating systems, click "Start" and "Run" in turn.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, click "Start ()" → "All Programs" → "Attachments" → "run" in turn.

In the Run window, type "spool" and click the OK button. As shown in Figure 8, open the spool folder:

In the spool folder, double-click the PRINTERS folder. As shown in the Figure 9PRINTERS folder:

In the PRINTERS folder, delete all of the files in it. As shown in Figure 10, delete the file:

Note: The files in the "PRINTERS" folder are not performing print tasks, and you need to delete them all.

Click the "Print Spooler" service to minimize the service window before clicking.

In the Print spooler properties (local computer) window, make sure that startup type is set to Automatic, click the Start button, and then click OK. As shown in Figure 11, starting the service:
