The Ubuntu Server method is installed on a USB flash drive that does not need to be decompressed or written into the image.

In this way, you do not need to decompress Or write the downloaded ISO installation image file to a USB flash drive or hard disk. If the U disk is already the latest boot menu of old peach WinPE (which is often used by network administrators to directly restore GHO to install Windows), it does not need to be damaged. This is great.
The premise is that the boot menu of old Mao Tao supports direct reading of all the ISO files in the USB flash drive/ISOS. In fact, we can also use GRUB or EASYBOOT, but manual operations are still a little troublesome, there is a lot of things saved by the old peach.

1. use the boot USB flash drive of old Mao Tao to create a WinPE boot disk. (If you do not want to use old Mao Tao, you can directly use UltraISO to write Syslinux Boot Sector to the USB flash drive, use it to write the image to the USB flash disk in Ubuntu installation ISO, so you don't need to look at the following steps, but this method will damage the original USB flash disk, it is unnecessary for a USB flash disk that has an old peach or similar tool that can be directly started from the ISO file of the USB flash disk)

2. Copy the iso file to the USB flash drive/ISOS directory.

4. Insert the USB flash drive into the machine on which the system is to be installed, start the system, enter the BIOS, and set the USB boot guide.

5. Search for the ISO file from the/ISOS directory to start the program. Select UBUNTU to install ISO and press enter to go to its installation interface.

6. to install ubuntu, you must first select the language and then select the keyboard. The two steps are fine, but in step 3, ubuntu will check the cdrom, it then reports the error "No CD-ROM drive was detected ". To skip this step, the following steps are critical:

7. Press <ALT> + <F2> and <Enter> to Enter the console (command line interface ).

8. Type ls-l/dev/sd * to view all mounted devices. Generally, the USB flash drive corresponds to/dev/sdb1.

9. Create a new directory: mkdir/iso, and mount the USB flash disk to this directory: mount-t vfat/dev/sdb1/iso

10. Mount the UBUNTU installation iso in the u Disk/ISOS/to the file corresponding to the cdrom device: ln-sf/iso/ubuntu-10.04.2-server-amd64.iso/dev/cdrom. Although ls/dev/cdrom does not see the files in ISO, it does not affect the installer to read the files in it: D

11. Press <ALT> + <F1> to jump out of the console and return to the installation page. Manually specify the installation path. The default path is/dev/cdrom. Press enter to continue the installation.

12. The rest is the installation process of the traditional Ubuntu Server. Done!
