The man command under Linux

The Man command is a help instruction under Linux, which allows you to view information such as instruction help, configuration file Help, and programming help in Linux.

Grammar

The Man (option) (parameter) option is optional, but the parameter must have.

Options

-A: Search in all the man help manuals;-F: Equivalent to the whatis instruction, which displays a short description of the given keyword;-p: Use a pager when specifying content;-M: Specifies the path of the man manual search. 

Parameters

• Number: Specifies the manual of the Man from which to search for help;
• Keywords: Specifies keywords to search for help.

Instance

As we type man ls , it will show "LS (1)" In the top left corner, where "ls" denotes the manual name, while "(1)" means the manual is in the first section, and again, we lose man ifconfig， it displays "IFCONFIG (8)" In the top left corner. As shown in the following:

You can also enter the command: "Man [chapter number] Manual name".

The man is searched in the order of the chapter number of the manual, for example:

Mans sleep

Only the Manual of the Sleep command is displayed, and if you want to see the library function sleep, enter: (shown below)

Mans 3 Sleep
