The Mozilla mobile browser Fennec failed.

Just last week, the Mozilla project team was proud to announce that "milestone release" was the much-anticipated Fennec mobile browser, also known as FirefoxMobile )", the Pre-alpha version of this software can be downloaded and used on the HTCTouch Pro smartphone.

Shortly after the release, mobile phone network enthusiasts around the world began to test the new browser, But the strange thing happened-testers could not access the internet, the black and white checkerboard boxes can only be seen on the screen of the mobile phone. It seems that Fennec has completely failed.

Startup failure

In the test conducted on the PCMagazine website, Fennec browser was installed on two mobile phones. No matter which mobile phone is there, it must be started twice before it can run, the mobile phone screen only displays a black and white keyboard pattern, instead of an introductory screen with an operation guide. Scroll up to the left of the scroll wheel to see the address bar, but the result of the URL input is an error. Start Opera and then open Modem. The title bar of different webpages may be displayed, but the webpage is still not displayed.

Other Fennec testers also encountered the same problem.

SaschaSegan, an analyst at PCMagazine, said: "If this is a milestone, this situation can only be said to be" station-to-fuel. Dear Mozilla, I wish you a better luck next time ."

What are the causes of the fault?

MarkFinkle, a Mozilla mobile team member, said the above issue may be related to memory. He pointed out that Windows Mobile phones have some restrictions on memory usage, which is what the Mozilla mobile team is trying to solve. However, it sounds that the team has not yet determined the exact cause of the startup failure.

Fenkler wrote on his blog: "When the real reason is found ...... We will certainly publish details on our blog ." But when can we find the real reason?

At present, the status of this problem is still "unattended ". We hope that this means that the entire Fennec team is working to solve the problem.

Mobile Network: The next battlefield for browsers

Interesting at 01:10, that is, when the failure of MozillaFennec, another mobile browser, Skyfire, also released a milestone version. Skyfire0.9 is used for Windows Mobile and Symbian. It previously supports Flash 10, Silverlight, and Ajax.

In addition to Skyfire, a new competitor, some of the most popular mobile network browsers come from Opera. The latter's mobile phone software has been installed on millions of mobile phones around the world.

Although the brand recognition of Skyfire and operabrowser may not be as high as that of Mozilla, in the mobile Web browser field, innovation may happen anywhere and by any company. The leader in the desktop market may not necessarily be the leader in the mobile market-this may be a good thing for mobile network users.
