The author is a computer room administrator. The computer in the computer room is connected to the Windows XP system. In actual management, it is found that sometimes the computer cannot automatically turn off the power supply, but we don't move on the screen of "now we can safely shut down the computer", but our chassis are the Patriot baby box used, which belongs to the ATX power supply, in theory, it should be able to automatically shut down and finally eliminate the fault through practice. The specific process is as follows:
First, it is suspected that the software installed in the system sometimes cannot exit automatically, so the computer is re-installed using a non-faulty computer system installation method, but still cannot solve the problem.
The second step is to start the two computers, which are both good and bad. The Windows Task Manager compares the applications and processes started by the two machines, and finds that there is no difference. It seems that there is no difference at all.
Finally, in an accidental opportunity, I was not surprised to read a computer magazine. The magazine said that the registry can be used to correct this problem. The operation is as follows:
Open the Registry Editor (start → run → enter Regedit), find the "HKEY_LoCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon" branch, find or create a registry entry of the REG_SZ type in the right pane, and name it "powerdownafter ", double-click to set the value to 0 (0 indicates that the power supply function can be automatically disabled, and 1 indicates that the power supply function cannot be automatically disabled). Then, exit the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
Note: This method is applicable to Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.
