During Direct upgrade from Ubuntu11.04 to Ubuntu11.10, we found that the printing service in the system was unavailable. When I directly upgrade Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10, I find that the printing service in the system is not available. When I update Ubuntu 11.10 to the latest status through the update manager, we found that cups was automatically installed and the printing service was ready for use.
What surprised me more is that the cups of the print service seems to have been done again and become extremely powerful. When Ubuntu 11.04 is directly upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10, I asked if the system configuration file is retained. I naturally choose to use new ones, and the old ones will disappear. However, this newly upgraded printing service cups does not need to use the original troublesome configuration, and it will automatically recognize the printer of the local area network of our company, and it can be used quickly. You do not need to enter the ip address of the printer. The default ip address is localhost, which is too powerful. Later, I found that in Ubuntu 11.10 "system settings", only this "Printer" is displayed by default. In fact, there is also a "print", which is a printing Configuration tool we were familiar, we can also find it in the unity "system" program.

Of course, if the system does not have the cpus printing service, we can install it through apt:
Sudo apt-get install cups
After the installation is complete, start the cups service in the following ways:
Sudo/etc/init. d/cups start
Or
Sudo/etc/init. d/cups restart
