Maravedis, an authoritative U.S. market research agency, announced the latest survey report that WiMAX users worldwide increased by 50% to 1.369 million in the third quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, in the first three quarters of this year, the service revenue of WiMAX operators reached $0.668 billion.
According to the survey report, the total revenue of global WiMAX services is expected to reach one billion US dollars this year. In the third quarter of this year, there were 196 WiMAX operators worldwide. According to a survey of average users owned by each operator, each wireless Internet service provider has an average of 11987 users and a competitive local switch operator (CLECs) has an average of 5801 users.
In the third quarter of this year, about 0.535 million users around the world adopted the WiMAX Forum certification technology. According to a survey on the profit ARPU operators obtained from each user within a period of time, the profit provided by each residential user to the operator is USD 45.08, and the profit provided by each business user is USD 144.27. Compared with other regions, residential users in the Middle East and Africa have a high profit of $52.31.
According to the survey, the Gap Between WiMAX network users in the second half of this year is further widening. Residential users using WiMAX networks account for 64% and business users account for 36%. 802.16 of WiMAX users use the 2004-29% standard and 802.16 of WiMAX users use the 2005-11.7% technology. 55% of users still use the patented technology. 3.8% of users have not disclosed the technology.
Among WiMAX service providers, 66% of carriers deploy WiMAX networks in the 3.3-3.8 GHz band.
Adlane Fellah, founder and chief executive officer of the survey company, said that we expect the release of mobile WiMAX to become the main network deployment. Combined with low-price end-user devices, mobile WiMAX users will grow rapidly next year, the commercial deployment of mobile WiMAX networks will grow by 70% to 80%. Many network operators have slowed down their network deployment plans to synchronize with the WiMAX 802.16e device that will be certified next year. Mobile WiMAX can provide more flexible and value-added services.
