The Solaris hard Drive installation process

1, Zoning Profile: (Take my hard drive for example, only for reference)

First primary partition 10G C disk FAT32 format install Windows XP

Secondary primary partition 15G idle unallocated ready to leave SOLARIS10

An extended partition is divided into three logical disks:

D Disk 24G FAT32 format

E-disk 26G FAT32 format

F Disk 3G FAT32 format

2. Preparation process:

Build a Solaris folder on E disk and then open Sol-10-u2-ga-x86-dvd.iso with WinRAR or virtual CD-ROM Extract the two files from the multiboot and x86.miniroot inside the boot directory, put them in the Solaris folder, and put the Sol-10-u2-ga-x86-dvd.iso mirrored files in the Solaris folder. (In fact, these three files can be anywhere, but must be in the FAT32 partition.) And it's best not to put it in the last partition, I always go wrong when I mount the last partition during the installation.

3. Boot with Grub:

With grub or GRUB for DOS boot, type the following command at a command prompt:

Find/solaris/multiboot

Will show HD (0,5), where HD (0,5) is related to my partition and may show different if the partitions are different.

Then, type the following command to boot:

Kernel (hd0,5)/solaris/multiboot kernel/unix-b Install_media=dsk

Module (hd0,5)/solaris/x86. MINIROOT

Boot

If all goes well, you should be able to get into the boot screen.

4, use the shell of the installation process for virtual optical drive

See more highlights of this column: http://www.bianceng.cnhttp://www.bianceng.cn/OS/unix/

After the correct boot, there will be 6 installation mode options, 1 or a wait timeout (the default is 1). A similar prompt appears on the screen:

NOTICE:RTLS0--Link down

Error:unbale To configure Network Inteface

Exiting to Shell

# NOTICE:RTLS0--Link up 100Mbps Full_puplex

The installer will stop and the cursor will not move. When you hit enter, a shell prompt will appear.

This shell is available, try a few simple commands.

With this shell to do, we can use it for virtual optical drive.

First you should know how the E disk is represented in Solaris:

Go inside the DSK and take a look at Cd/dev/dsk.

Then LS to see that there are similar c0d0p0,c0d0p1,c0d0p2,c0d0p3,c0d0p4 devices. Here C0d0p0 represents the first primary partition, the C disk, the C0D0P1 represents the second primary partition, and the C0D0P2 represents the extended partition. Because Solaris does not recognize a logical disk, C0D0P2 represents the entire extended partition (that is, D, E, and F), distinguishing between D, E, and F by C0d0p2:1, C0d0p2:2, and C0d0p2:3, because Solaris does not recognize NTFS. So c0d0p2:1 is my e-disk, C0d0p2:2 is my f-plate, know these will be good to do. Hurry up and mount the E disk:

Mount-f pcfs/dev/dsk/c0d0p2:1/mnt

Then go into the MNT directory to see it, you should be able to see the file of e-disk. This is the time to use the Solaris DVD image as a virtual optical drive.

Lofiadm-a/mnt/solaris/sol-10-u2-ga-x86-dvd.iso

Mount-f HSFS/DEV/LOFI/1/cdrom (must be mounted in/cdrom directory)

Go into the CDROM inside to see it, should be successful. Then the system will think that there is a disc in the optical drive.

When this is done, and then type exit, the shell will exit and the installer will go on automatically.
