When you log on to vsftpd, the following message is displayed: vsftpd500OOPS: chroot: vsftpd login found on google, and the message is vsftpd 500 OOPS: chroot.
I found http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-networking-3/ftp-500-oops-cannot-change-directory-432558/ www.2cto.com on google so I knew it was selinux and it had an option called "Allow ftp to read/write in the user home directories.
