A common location and identity service/file in the URL:
http: file located on Web server
HTTPS: Hypertext Transfer Protocol delivered using Secure Sockets Layer
File: File name for a specific host
ftp: File located on FTP server
Gopher: File on Gopher server
WAIS: File on WAIS server
News: The file is on the usernet server
Telnet: Connecting to a transmitter device that supports Telnet telnet

2. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
Characteristics:
C/S mode
Simple and fast. When sending a request, only the method and path of the request must be provided.
Allows the transfer of any type of data object.
No connection. Only one request is processed per connection.
Stateless protocol. There is no memory function for transaction processing. If subsequent processing requires the use of the preceding information, retransmission is required.
