The VM (UBUNTU) cannot ping the host.

Recently, a virtual machine (Ubuntu-server-12.04) was installed, using a bridge approach. After installation, the host can be pinged to the virtual machine, but the virtual machine can be pinged to all IP addresses except the host (including the gateway, DNS, and other Internet IP addresses ), later I learned that it was a problem with the Windows 7 firewall.

Cause:

By default, external hosts are not allowed to ping Windows 7 for security reasons. However, in a secure LAN environment, the ping test is necessary for the Administrator to test the network.

Solution:

Open the windows 7 control panel, find Windows Firewall, advanced settings, inbound rules, and set the file and print share (echo request-ICMPv4-In) rule to allow.
