Recently, I downloaded a thin passenger plane System (Windows Embedded Standard) from the HP official website and needed to test its functions. So I set up an environment on the vmwarevm, however, it is depressing to find that the VMware 8.0 virtual machine does not support USB Flash Boot by default. How can this problem be solved? It turns out that you can simulate a USB flash drive into a SCSI hard drive to implement boot. The specific setting process is as follows.

1. Run VMware to create a new Virtual Machine Windows Embedded Standard, as shown below:

TIPS: All operations require advanced user permissions. If you are in Vista or Windows 7, right-click them,Run as AdministratorOtherwise, the following operations will fail.
2. In the virtual machine, click Edit virtual machine settings, click Add under hardware options, select hard disk, and next

3. Select use physical disk and click Next.

4. The options on the device include PhysicalDriver0 and PhysicalDriver1. Which one is the USB flash disk option, which is determined by the size of the disk. For example, if you select PhysicalDriver0, the size of the disk is 120 GB (the physical hard disk of the laptop is 120 GB), but it is not a USB flash disk (the size of the USB flash disk is 2 GB)
Delete the hard disk and add it again. Select PhysicalDriver1 on the device. Because the USB flash disk has no partition, select [use the entire disk]. Next
5. After adding the disk, you will see a new hard disk. The size of the disk is exactly the size of the USB flash drive (2 GB). Click OK.
6. Power on the virtual machine, enter the BIOS, set the Boot option, and view a [VMware ...... ).

7. Change [VMware ...... (): Set it to the first startup sequence, save and exit the BIOS.
8. After the reboot, the system has been successfully started from the USB flash drive.
