In Windows XP, if you want to leave your computer for a while, and do not want others to touch your computer, you can lock the desktop so that others want to unlock, you must enter a password, therefore, locking the desktop is an effective way to protect personal privacy and data. For example, a computer that manages patient records in a hospital often leaves the hospital temporarily because the operator is highly mobile and needs to lock the desktop.
To lock the desktop, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open the "Windows Task Manager" dialog box and select "Shut Down"> "lock the computer ", or press the combination key "Windows key + L ". However, users who are used to mouse operations prefer to have a shortcut on the desktop that can lock the computer and double-click it to lock the computer. The following method helps us establish such a shortcut.
1. Right-click the blank area of the desktop and select "new"> "shortcut ".
2. Enter rundll32.exe user32.dll and LockWorkStation in the create an example dialog box, and click "Next ".
