Lee B. Erickson is a PhD student at PSU (School of Information Science and Technology ). The question of this paper is: How can existing enterprises use crowdsourcing to replace or assist the current resources and processes? The main part of this paper is Chapter 3-5: S3 puts forward the research questions and methods, S4 introduces the focus of the research process, and S5 provides the preliminary research results. The following is an excerpt from the paper:

 

1. (concept) innovation gap/innovation crisis
"The gap between a firm's ability to generate continuous innovation and the market's demand for innovation"

 

2. there are many concepts of innovation. This article uses the broad meanings: "refers to new ideas or solutions to problems that lead to improvements or advancements for the Organization within their marketplace... innovation may be incremental or breakthough, result in CED costs, improved productivity, or open new unexplored markets. "(S3)

 

3. The research issues in this article can be divided into the following four questions (S3)

    • Why do enterprises use crowdsourcing to seek product/service innovation?
    • Which tasks are crowdsourcing?
    • What are the factors that promote or impede crowdsourcing?
    • How can I determine whether Crowdsourcing is successful?

In view of these research problems, this paper applies the "Grounded Theory" Research (S3). There are three main sources of data analysis: (1) academic publications; (2) interview practitioners; (3) case analysis. (S4)
