Three Network modes and three virtual machine Modes

Introduction to three virtual machine Networks

The Virtual Machine Concept is mentioned in the title. I believe that my friends have a simple understanding of the role of the Virtual Machine. At the end of this article, I will add the source of learning materials, the detailed steps are explained in the original article. Here are some of the issues that we are concerned about.

1: first, let's introduce the most common Nat network mode. This method is more convenient to configure and is favored by all of you in different network modes.

Two virtualized devices: DHCP server (allocated network segment range in the Virtual Machine) and Nat device (auxiliary functions)

Two Connection Methods: 1: automatically allocate IP addresses through virtual machines 2: configure the IP addresses of the network in the Virtual Machine (as long as they are in the virtual network segment)

Advantage: To solve the IP address shortage problem, because it will virtualize the IP address of a network segment for us to use, does not occupy the IP address segment of our physical machine. ---- This is why our network will not be congested.

----------------------

Why?

When we disable the VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 Nic, can we still access the Internet? Do not understand, hot? We need to know what this network card is.

The virtual Nic is used to implement communication between the host and the virtual machine. Therefore, disabling the NIC does not prevent virtual machine connection.

----------------------

When will the NIC be used?

Remote connection tool: the network adapter is used to remotely operate the Operating System (Linux and unix common) in a virtual machine through software in the physical machine (for example, xshell.

2: Let's talk about bridging-mode Internet access.

In bridging mode, the host's network adapter communicates with the virtual network adapter of the virtual machine using the Virtual Network Bridge.

Principle: similar to virtualizing a physical host as a switch. All virtual machines in the bridging mode communicate over the vswitch. Of course, the physical machine also communicates over the vswitch, therefore, each virtual host in the bridge mode can access each other and do not interfere with each other.

---------------------

Difference: the bridging mode directly virtualizes a switch through the NIC of the physical machine. Both the physical machine and the virtual machine communicate over the network through this switch;

Nat mode: the non-physical network segment is handed over through the VMware networ adapter 8 Nic, virtual nat adapter, and virtual DHCP server.

Of course, this virtual switch is not used for network communication.

3: Finally, let's talk about host-host mode.

In host-only mode, the virtual Nat device is removed, but the virtual DHCP server is retained. Therefore, you can divide the network segments (not connected ).

Internet ).

Disadvantage: This mode isolates virtual machines from the Internet and can only communicate with the host.

Internet access: the host can share the local network to the Virtual Machine (the host automatically divides the local network segment to the virtual machine)

The above are three different modes of connecting to the Internet through a virtual machine. You can use the appropriate mode based on your needs. The article comes from the virtual machine network settings. read this article.
