After the virtual machine is installed, two virtual NICs are added. The VMnet1 Nic is connected to the Host-only network, and the VMnet8 Nic is connected to the NAT network.

 

• Bridged Mode

In this mode, the NIC of the VM is directly connected to the LAN of the physical machine.

If you want to create a virtual server in the LAN to provide network services for LAN users, you should select the bridge mode.

 

• Host-only mode

Corresponds to the VMnet1 LAN in VMware. The NIC of the VM and the virtual Nic of the physical machine are in the LAN. Therefore, virtual machines are isolated from the real network, but they can communicate with each other.

If you want to perform some special network debugging, you can select the Host-only mode.

 

• NAT Mode

 

Corresponds to the VMnet8 LAN in VMware. In NAT mode, a virtual machine can access the public network through the network of the host machine through the NAT (Network Address Translation) function.

If you want a physical machine to access the Internet through a vro, it is a public IP address. In this case, the NAT mode should be used to allow virtual machines to access the Internet.
