Three methods for installing DNS and configuring multiple second-level domain names (Graphic tutorial)

First, let's make a simple summary of the three methods mentioned below.

Summary:

Method 1:It mainly performs common domain name resolution and single-site wildcard resolution
Method 2: The Master is to beMultiple SitesConfigure multiple IP addresses for wildcard resolution.
Method 3: Modify hosts without installing DNS, but do not perform wildcard resolution!

Step 1: Install DNS in Windows 2003:

1.1 This step takes a little time. You can wait patiently. Different machines may have different speeds!

1.2 select the anti-DNS server as shown in the figure and click Next

1.4 The DNS server is installed here. Next, add a "forward lookup area" in a wizard.

1.5 This figure mainly shows that the region name is the domain name we want to set! That is the part that does not contain the Host header!

1.6dns requires a fixed IP address for the machine to be installed and cannot be obtained automatically. So let's set "network connection" to input our IP address, and change the DNS server to the local machine first, this place will be forced to use the local DNS server, because the service is installed on this machine!

Step 2: configure the "DNS server"

2.1 configure the "forward lookup region" of the "kfoo.com" domain we just added below. In this step, we add several host headers for this domain for testing!

The following is the created Host header,Note: If you want to perform wildcard resolution, enter"*"You can, and then point to an IP address you want to point to, but in this case, if a machine has multiple sites that need extensive resolution, we need to use the first method described below to set multiple IP addresses. In this way, we can perform extensive resolution for multiple sites on one server,One server and one siteNo configuration is required for IIS during wildcard parsing.Set (but remember to set the previous dns ip address). If multiple sites need to configure the IP address of the next site for wildcard resolution (in the first method of setting multiple IP addresses)Now, let's look down;

2.3 After the Host header is created, go to cmd to confirm it. You will find that the Host Header has been successfully pointed!

Step 3: configure the IIS Site

Above we set the site of "Default site" Port "80" to http://www.kfoo.com/

Note that the port number of the site is "81"

We found that this location is set like this, but only http://www.kfoo.com/can be used, and the product.kfoo.comdomain name cannot be set! Why !? The "81" port number of the product site was added! This is definitely not the same thing we expected. What should we do !?

In IIS, we also need to make changes to the "product" site. We need to set the "81" Port of the site to "80 ", IP address assigned to the newly added "192.168.0.253", okay, OK!

The third method does not require DNS cooperation, but as far as I know, it seems that wildcard resolution cannot be set.In this case, it should be subject to a relatively large limit. In fact, in more cases, I used to test the second-level domain name for wildcard DNS. After setting the hosts file, the settings in IIS are also relatively simple.
