There are three network connection modes in VMware, namely Bridge mode, Nat mode, Host-only mode, Nat mode is recommended, and more IP address can be assigned to virtual machine. Here are the three different modes.
Bridging mode:
Bridging mode is the use of virtual Bridge to communicate the host network card and virtual machine virtual network card. In the role of bridging, similar to the physical host virtual as a switch, all the bridge settings of the virtual machine and the physical host are connected to the interface of this switch. In bridging mode, the virtual machine IP address needs to be in the same network segment as the host, and if networking is required, the gateway and DNS need to be consistent with the host NIC. Virtual machines logically and physically are on the same LAN, and both of them are equivalent.

Nat Mode:
If your network IP resources are scarce, but you want your virtual machines to be networked, Nat mode is the best option. Nat mode enables virtual machines to be networked with virtual NAT devices and virtual DHCP servers. The network card of the virtual machine is connected to the host's VMnet8, and the VMware NAT Service service of the system acts as a router, which is responsible for sending the virtual machine to the VMNET8 packet for address translation and then to the actual network. The packets returned on the actual network are then addressed and sent to the virtual machine via VMNET8. VMware DHCP service is responsible for providing DHCP services to virtual machines.

Host mode:
host-only The mode is actually NAT mode to remove the virtual NAT device, then use the Vmwarenetwork Adapter VMnet1 virtual network card to connect VMNET1 Virtual Switch to communicate with the virtual machine, Host-only mode separates the virtual machine from the external network, Makes the virtual machine a standalone system that communicates with the host only.
