Phpwind 3.01 Forum can be said to be a relatively powerful function and a better speed in the free forum. I have accumulated some experience in using this forum and share it with you:
1. Data Backup
As the forum data volume increases, backup is often performed based on the default file size, and a file cannot accommodate all the backup data. If the host speed is slow and the network speed is not good, it is often displayed after the first file is generated, a white screen will appear, and the response will be lost. Never think that the backup has been completed (we once did this, causing heavy losses !).
In this case, it is best to use a browser that responds quickly. you can use Opera to normally reflect the backup process. You must wait until the prompt that the backup is complete to indicate that the backup is complete.
Another feasible method is to modify the size of the backup file. for example, if your backup file is about 1 MB, it is set to 2048 kB. This will prevent half of the backup files from being aborted.
2. execute SQL statements using the phpwind recovery function
The Phpwind backup file is actually a Database SQL statement, which can be divided into two categories: statements for deleting and recreating tables and inserting data statements. If the backup data in your database is incomplete, you can manually add SQL statements to the backup file (or delete some statements, such as statements for deleting the table structure reconstruction, only the statement for inserting data is retained. you only need to keep the header of the backup file intact. You can also use any SQL statement. phpwind will faithfully execute these SQL statements for you.
3. do not reinstall phpwind for space migration:
Migration space can be said to be a common problem (no way, who is calling us China's virtual host service providers, and we are often frustrated ?) The conventional approach is to re-upload the installation file, reinstall phpwind, overwrite the installation directory with your modified BBS directory, and restore the MySQL database. This requires a long FTP upload process, especially when the network speed is normal.
In fact, the current VM service provider generally provides the phpMyAdmin database management tool, which can skip the installation process:
Statement: If your VM cannot provide phpMyAdmin, and you have not installed phpMyAdmin yet, you don't need to read the following (because it takes no less time to upload and install phpMyAdmin than phpwind. I used to be a big master)
-If your backup file is small (several hundred kb) and the network speed is good, you can directly execute the SQL file in phpMyAdmin to execute the backup file.
However, if the file is too large, I tested it, even if it is only about 1 MB, it is often difficult to succeed if the network speed is normal. Therefore, installing an original version of phpwind is still essential.
However, if you are interested, you can modify the backup file, extract only the data structure, and then execute it.
In other words, you can also find a newly installed phpwind clean database file (so it is best to save the first backup of your website ), run PhpMyAdmin to restore the database structure.
-The next step is to copy the Forum directory you backed up to the new space (you need to keep the SQL _config.php file under the data Directory) and restore your BBS webpage file, if your BBS file has not been modified, you can directly use the installed file. Otherwise, upload your modified BBS file.
-If you are using a UNIX host, you also need to modify the attributes of some directories. you can follow the phpwind installation instructions, change the attributes of several directories to 777 (in fact, it can often run normally if it is changed to 755), and the new forum will be successfully migrated.
It is worth noting that do not forget to modify the attributes of several files under the simple directory to 755, otherwise, the graphic-free interface cannot be accessed correctly (this was accidentally discovered when I checked the site access Source. we never used the graphic-free version, but it is a favorite of search engines ).
-Then, do not forget to modify the database name, user name, password, and other information in the SQL _config.php file under the data Directory.
If you reinstall phpwind, copy the SQL _config.php file under the data directory in the phpwind directory you just installed to the data directory in your real Forum directory, set the file property to 777.
-Finally, the key step is to use FTP to upload your real database backup file to the Data directory, and then log on to the background with the phpwind administrator account to restore your Data quickly.
