To add a Hyper-V cluster host to the VMM server

This section demonstrates adding a trusted Hyper-V server failover cluster to the VMM Management Server.

First, prerequisites

1. Make sure that the failover Cluster Server is a member of an Active Directory domain that has a two-way trust associated with the domain of the VMM Management Server.

2. The added computer must support Hyper-V.

3. VMM only supports the configuration of WinRM service settings through Group Policy and can only be configured on hosts in trusted Active Directory domains. Specifically, VMM supports configuring the Allow automatic configuration of listeners, open compatibility HTTP listeners, and open compatibility HTTPS listeners Group Policy settings. Configuring additional WinRM service policy settings is not supported.

4. If the "Allow automatic configuration of listeners" policy setting is enabled, it must be configured to allow messages from any IP address. To verify this, review the policy setting and make sure that the IPV4 filter and the IPV6 filter (depending on whether you use IPV6) are set to "*".

5. VMM does not support configuring WinRM client settings through Group Policy. If you configure the WinRM client Group Policy setting, these policy settings may override the client properties that VMM requires for the VMM agent to work correctly.

6. When you add a trusted host, you must specify account credentials for an account that has administrative permissions on the computer that you want to add. You can enter a user name and password, or specify a run as account. If you want to use a run as account, you can create a run as account before you begin this procedure, or create the account in the process.

Second, add a trusted Hyper-V host cluster

1. The current server "bj-vmhost-01" and "bj-vmhost-02" are already in the cluster "BJ-VMHOST-CLU". About creating a Hyper-V failover cluster See my Hyper-V topic, which is no longer detailed here. http://blog.51cto.com/zt/652

2. Open the "Construction" workspace.

3. In the fabric pane, click Servers.

4. On the Home tab, in the Add Group, click Add Resource, and then click Hyper-V hosts and clusters. The Add Resource Wizard starts.

5. On the Resource Location page, click Windows Server Computers in a trusted Active Directory domain, and then click Next.

6. On the Discovery Scope page, do any of the following, and then click Next:

A) Click Specify Windows Server computers by name. In the Computer Name box, enter the computer you want to add, one row for each computer name or IP address. If you are adding a Hyper-V host cluster, you can specify the cluster name or IP address, or the name or IP address of any cluster node.

b) Click Specify Active Directory queries to search for Windows Server computers. Then, enter the Active Directory query in the Type AD query box, or click Generate AD query to create the query.

7. On the Target Resources page, select the check box next to each computer that you want to add, and then click Next. If you specified a cluster name or cluster node, select the check box next to the cluster name. (The cluster name is listed with the associated cluster node.) )

10. Return to the VMM Management console to verify that the host or host cluster was successfully added, in the Fabric pane, expand the host group in which you want to add hosts or host clusters, click a host or host cluster, and then verify that the host status is normal in the hosts pane.

In the next article, I'll show you how to build a Hyper-V cluster using Microsoft's latest VMM, without requiring administrators to install Hyper-V, failover clustering, and so on, to fully automate the managed build blog post.
