to configure the site search function after wss3.0 is created, perform the following steps:
1. start the search service
Management Center-> operations-> services on the server, there are four services in the list:
Windows SharePoint Services web application Program
Windows SharePoint services help search
Windows SharePoint Services incoming email
Management Center
all three services except Windows SharePoint Services are enabled, only the help search service is disabled. Click the Enable option for the service
according to the option specified on the page. The index plan option is the network crawling plan. You can set a short period of time for testing, for example, one minute, so that the newly added documents will be quickly searched, you can set reasonable values in the actual environment. Click Start to start the search service. If it is unfortunately the same as me, the following screen is displayed:
check the database server. The database wss_search_adserver has been created, and the specified account permissions are also granted. It is unclear which step has a problem and no clue can be found to view the Event Viewer. After repeated tests, the problem exists in the user name header. the user name should use the domain name \ User name. If only the user name is used, this problem occurs.
In addition, I did a stupid thing and found that the database wss_search_adserver already exists on the database server, so I just deleted it, as a result, an unknown error is always prompted during subsequent configuration. view the Event Viewer, which indicates that the logon of the User Name Administrator fails. I guess it should be the database that was filled in when the first configuration was recorded in the configuration database, so it went to the database wss_search_adserver recorded in the configuration database with treasure, I didn't expect this to have been deleted. I changed it to a name such as wss_search_adserver1 and so on.
2. associate the site's content server with the search service
Management Center-> Application Management-> content database, click the content database wss_content corresponding to the site, and the following screen is displayed:
select search server adserver and click OK.
3. test the search function
: Upload a Word document containing several words, such as the People's Republic of China. The file name is "New Document", enter "Chinese" in the search box, and click search, if it succeeds, you can see the document to be searched. If it is as unfortunate as me, the following picture may appear:
the problem lies in the running account of the site, I used the network service account when creating a web application, but the wss3.0 setup did not grant the corresponding permissions to this account, to be honest, I do not know the permissions required for this account. I can only change it to an administrator account for the time being. The search results are as follows:
