To set a different color fill for a negative value in an Excel chart
The display is inefficient if you select each data point to fill the color setting directly in the data series. If you split the raw data into positive and negative two data series and then set different colors, the scheme is feasible, but is there a way to implement it directly on the chart? Many people naturally think of this option "to represent negative values in complementary colors." Yes, this option is really for this kind of requirement, but there are some tricks to use when using this option, and there are some different variations in the use of this option in different versions of 2003~2010. Follow the text below to learn more about it.
In each version of Excel, in the Format Data Series dialog box, you can select the check box option to represent negative values in complementary colors, but by default, the color that is automatically filled with negative data points is white, and the color settings are usually not in line with the designer's expectations. You need to modify it to a different fill color by customizing it.
Here's how to customize the color of negative data points by following the different scenarios in the three versions of Excel.
Excel Version 2003
Excel2003 version, select the data series in the chart double-click, open the Format Data Series dialog box, click the Fill Effect button, select the Gradient tab in the Fill Effect dialog box, and select the Two-color option, and in the Color 2 color box, you can select the color you want to set for a negative number.
