Although the Chinese version of Windows XP has not yet been officially released, it is believed that many computer enthusiasts have been using an English version of Windows XP 6.0.2600.0. Friends who are used to the smart ABC input method must have discovered a serious problem: there is no smart ABC Input Method in Windows XP, but the new version of Microsoft Pinyin has become the default Chinese input method. How to use smart ABC in Windows XP has become a top priority. After repeated experiments, I finally found a way to make the smart ABC input method work normally in XP.
First, try to obtain the input method file (IME file) of smart ABC and related auxiliary files. These files can be obtained from earlier versions of Windows 98/ME/2000. The smart ABC input method includes winabc. IME, winabc. OVl, winabc. for a batch of files such as HLP, you can use the search file tool to find all files named winabc. Generally, you can find five files, they are usually located in the system folder and help folder of Win98/me or in the System32 folder of Windows 2000.
Find these files and copy them to the System32 folder of Windows XP. However, the smart ABC input method cannot be added to the text service of Windows XP.
The following job is to modify the registry. Run the Regedit Registry Editor in Windows XP and expand my computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/system/controlset001/control/keyboard layouts in sequence. Then you can see that the system lists a series of primary keys, each key corresponds to an input method, and the key whose key name ends with 0804 corresponds to the simplified Chinese input method.
Now we need to create a new key in the keyboard layouts, for example, e0110804. According to my experiment, we only need to ensure that the E0 starts and ends with 0804 and does not duplicate the existing key.
After the primary key is created, you can create a series of values in the right pane. Here, we need to create three string types, as shown below:
IME file winabc. ime
Layout file kbdus. dll
Layout text smart ABC Input Method version 5.0
Here, IME file indicates that the ime file of the smart ABC input method is winabc. Ime, and layout text indicates that the input method in the text service is named "smart ABC Input Method version 5.0 ".
Close the Registry Editor. Now, we have basically finished porting.
Next, open the area and language options in the control panel, and click the details of the text service on the language page. Here, you can add the smart ABC to the input method list of the system. Select Simplified Chinese in the input language, and then the "smart ABC Input Method version 5.0" input method you added will appear in the keyboard layout below. Select it, OK, everything is OK!
