troubleshoot problems with the VMware NAT Service services not starting or service disappearing 2016-02-02 11:18 2012 People read Comments (2) Favorites report Category: network communications (3)
Use the Windows 7 virtual machine (NAT mode) in VMware today to discover that there is no network, the network card shows the "net Cable unplugged", check that the host's VMware NAT service services are not started, manually start the pop-up error "1067: Process unexpected termination."
Because of the system that just upgraded the host yesterday, guessing that some of the service's dependencies might have been compromised for some reason, but did not want to reload VMware, there was a way to find out:
Open the Virtual network editor for VMware and select "Restore Defaults", at which point it will automatically remove all VMware network services and virtual network cards and reinstall, and if the VMware NAT service disappears after the operation is done, it should be possible to resolve the issue.
The remaining problem is that Nat's subnet IP and DHCP settings change after the NAT service is re-installed, as long as you set it again.
