If you create a user account with an e-mail address and password (Microsoft account) when Windows 8 is not logged in, try logging on to a live service (such as Hotmail) on another PC to see if there is a problem with your account. If you are unable to log on to the Live service, try resetting the password.
If you are unable to log on to the live service on another PC, try changing your password and then log on again on your original PC.
The best way to prevent this is to create a password reset disk when you create a password. This eliminates the need for a reinstall if you forget your password. You can create a password reset disk by performing the following steps:
1. Insert a USB drive or other removable media as a password reset disk.
2. At the start screen, press the Windows logo key + W, type "Create apassword reset Disk", and then click Enter.
3. Follow the instructions provided by the Forgotten Password Wizard.
Then, when you cannot log on, click the Reset Password link to start the Reset Password Wizard.
