"Printing failure" is mostly caused by improper printer use, installation, and setup. Virus, printer damage, and printer port failure may also cause printer printing failure. If the printer cannot be printed in Windows 9x, follow these steps:
1. First, check whether the printer is online. On most printers, there is a light indicator next to the "online" button. Normally, the online indicator is always on. If the indicator is not on or flashing, the connection is abnormal. Check whether the printer power is on, whether the printer power switch is on, and whether the printer cable is properly connected.
2. If the online indicator shows that the online operation is normal, turn off the printer first, then open the printer, and print the document again. This operation can clear printed document data stored in the printer memory and solve many problems, but sometimes this method can cause printing output confusion and can be printed normally only after the system is restarted.
3. check whether the printer has been set as the default printer by selecting "Start/set/printer", open the "Printer" window, and check whether there is a small black hook on the current printer icon, if no, right-click the printer icon and select "set as default" to set the printer as the default printer. If the printer window does not have a printer currently in use, double-click the "Add Printer" icon and install the printer as prompted.
4. check whether the current printer is set to pause printing by right-clicking the printer icon in the "Printer" window. In the displayed drop-down menu, check whether there is a small hook on the pause printing option (for example, ^ 07030406a ^ 1 ). If the "Pause printing" option is selected, cancel the small hooks on the option and print it again.
5. Type A few lines of text in notepad or Wordpad, and click print on the File menu ". If you can print the test document, you may useProgramIf there is a problem, check whether the correct printer is selected in the WPS, word or other applications you are using. If it is a print file generated by the application, check whether the printed output generated by the program is correct.
6. if the remaining space on the hard disk is too small, the printer cannot be printed. Check whether the available space on the hard disk is less than 10 MB, in "my computer", right-click the hard drive icon for Windows 98 installation (usually drive C) and select "properties" to open the current Hard Drive Properties window, on the General tab, check the disk space. If the remaining disk space is less than 10 MB, you must clear the recycle bin, delete temporary files on the hard disk, delete expired files or archived files on the hard disk, and delete unused programs to release more space for printing.
7. in the printer window, right-click the printer icon and select "properties" from the drop-down menu, open the printer Properties window and check the following content (for example, ^ 07030406b ^ 2) in the details option ):
(1) In the "print to the following port" selection box, check whether the printer port is set correctly. The most common port is "LPT1: printer port ", however, some printers require other ports.
(2) In the "Print with the following drivers" selection box, check whether the driver is suitable.
(3) If a failure occurs when a large file is printed, add the "timeout settings" values in the "timeout settings" section. This option is only valid for printers that are directly connected to the computer. It is not valid when a network printer is used.
8. check whether the printer port in the BIOS is enabled. The printer port in the BIOS should be set to "enable". Note that some early printers do not support printing port signals of the ECP type, set the print port to "normal", "spp", and "ECP + EPP.
9. Check for viruses. Try anti-virus software.
10. Check whether the printer cable is plugged in and out. Make sure that both ends of the cables connecting the computer and the printer are plugged in. If you use a printer switch device (such as a parallel scanner or a printer sharing device), connect the printer directly to the computer without switching the device, and then try to print it. If the device can be printed normally without switching, it indicates that there is a problem with switching the device.
11. check whether the printer driver is damaged. If "Printer Driver" is damaged, the printer cannot be printed. Right-click the printer icon, select "delete", and double-click "Add Printer ", reinstall the printer driver and print it again. If re-installation works properly, it indicates that the printer driver is damaged.
12. Check whether the printer has printing paper, ribbons and other necessities, such as whether there is paper in the input tray, whether the printer is stuck in paper, whether the powder box, ribbons or Toner is valid.
If the printer fails to be printed after the above check, the fault may be caused by one of the following three reasons: printer cable disconnection, printer damage, and printer port failure. Printer cable disconnection and printer damage can be checked by replacement method. If the printer fails, please repair the printer. If the printer port on the motherboard is damaged, you can add another multi-function card, disable the motherboard printer port in BIOS for printing.
In general, it is not very difficult to solve the "printing failure" fault in Windows 9x, but you still need to practice it to troubleshoot the fault one by one.
