Media reports that TSMC has indirectly invested in ageia, an American icdesign company, and has obtained OEM orders for the physical computing acceleration chip (PPU) designed by ageia for the game instrument, this allows TSMC to go deep into the game instrument hardware market after OEM for nvidia and ATI.
Ageia recently published the world's first hardware-accelerated physical computing processor (PPU) "physx" at the GDC game developer forum, which will be applied to computers and the next generation of video game hosts. TSMC said that it converted its investment to ageia through the 98% Technology Alliance Venture Capital Fund (vtaf II), but the investment proportion was not high and it would not be involved in the company's operation. TSMC focuses mainly on one but PPU is selling well, and TSMC will also benefit from this.
