tutorial on applying and deleting manuscript in Word2007 documents

The manuscript function is used to generate a blank paper style document, or to apply the paper grid to an existing document in a Word document. The Manuscript Settings dialog box allows you to easily set your manuscript properties as needed. Here's how to use the manuscript in a word2007 document

★ About Manuscript Properties

Grid style: There are three kinds of styles: Square format manuscript, line-style manuscript and frame-type manuscript.

Number of rows x columns: The number of lines per page x the number of characters per line. There are five options: 10x20, 15x20, 20x20, 20x25, and 24x25.

Grid color: Used to set the line color of the manuscript grid.

Paper Size: The paper size used to set the document for the manuscript. There are four options: A3, A4, B4, and B5.

Page orientation: Can be portrait or landscape. When you run the manuscript function, the default page orientation is the same as the page orientation of the Word document.

Headers and footers: You can choose to use a predefined header/footer, or you can use a custom header/footer by entering content. The header/Footer position can also be transformed between the left, right, or center alignment.

Wrapping: This option is specifically for Asian layouts. You can select this option if you want to control the end-and-end characters of a row by Chinese custom, or to allow punctuation in the document to overflow boundaries.

★ Create an empty manuscript document

1. Click on the "page layout" of the functional area, click "Manuscript Settings" in the "manuscript" group, and pop up the "Manuscript Settings" window;

2. In the "Manuscript Settings" window, in the "Manuscript Style" list, click on "square format manuscript pad", "line-style manuscript pad" or "frame-style manuscript". When you select any valid manuscript style, other properties are enabled, and you can make any changes to the manuscript properties as needed until you are satisfied with all the settings.

3. Click OK and the entire document will automatically change to the selected style.

★ Change the settings of the manuscript document

Click on the "page layout" of the Ribbon, click "Manuscript Settings" in the "manuscript" group, and pop up the "Paper Settings" window to change the properties of the manuscript in this window.

★ Delete existing manuscript settings from the document

Click on the "page layout" of the Ribbon, click "Manuscript Settings" in the "manuscript" group, pop up the "Paper Settings" window, and select "Non-paper document" in the "format" list under "grid" to delete the manuscript settings in the document.
