Why is the name of the first page of the website usually index.html and not the other? For example, when you enter the http://www.goeway.com/index.html URL in the browser, you do not specifically specify which page to open, but the server will automatically find index.html This file, if any, the display of this file, if not, then find index.htm again, if not, it is likely to display the error message. and first find index.html, then find index.htm this order is determined by the server, and the vast majority of servers are following this principle, and the general user does not have the right to modify this setting. So when we make a Web page, it's best to name the first page of the site index.html or index.htm.
Set page Properties


Setting page properties is an essential part of the process before you start making your Web page officially. Double-click to open the newly created index.htm, automatically into the editing window. Select Modify > Page properties to set some of the necessary page attributes, as shown in the following figure:

　　① Title: page titles will appear directly to the top left of the browser, for example, open the Goeway.com Web site in the browser, you can see the title of the page in the upper left corner of the browser "goeway.com– Online Guide." Be sure to get into the habit of setting a title for each page, which is easy for visitors to browse, and helps you distinguish between pages in the editing process. Although the headline is not a necessary element of a Web page, it is a reflection of whether the Web page maker has taken the view of the viewer from a small place.

　　③ Background (background color): The default is white, click to select a different color. The following "#FFFFFF" is an RGB color value that is displayed in 16-way.

Note that if you do not set the color of the background and text (this time the RGB color value is displayed as empty), then the browser in the Display page, the system will adopt the default settings. However, because of different system settings can be a difference, so that the results of the page will be displayed in a variety of ways. Because, in order to better let the page reflect your design ideas, do not forget to set the background color of the page and text color.

　　⑤ link (linked color): Sets the hyperlink color, and does not set the default to blue.

　　⑥ left and top: Sets the margins of the left-hand and the tops, typically set to "0" to facilitate editing of the Web page.

After making sure the page is set correctly, click OK to finish.

Make one of the simplest web pages

If everything starts to be difficult, let's start with the simplest Web page. If you have followed the previous steps in one step, you should be able to follow the same picture as follows:
