ADSL Device Installation
ADSL installation includes local line adjustment and client device installation. On the local terminal side, the service provider connects the user's original telephone line to the ADSL local device. The user's ADSL installation is also very simple and convenient, as long as the telephone line is connected to the filter, A two-core telephone line is used between the filter and adsl modem, And the adsl modem and the computer NIC are connected by a cross network cable to complete hardware installation, then, set the IP, DNS, and gateway parameters in the TCP/IP protocol to complete the installation.
Instance 1:
A foreign-invested enterprise has applied for the ADSL access service. To enable Internet access for all office computers, a firewall must be installed. This instance involves network hardware devices such as ADSL modem, router with Firewall Service) and hub. See figure 1.
First, connect the power of each hardware device. Second, insert the telephone LINE into the LINE port of the modem and use an Ethernet cable that is not crossover) to connect the Ethernet port of the modem to the WAN port of the router. Then, use a non-crossover ethernet cable) to connect the LAN port of the router to the UpLink port of the hub, you can also use a cross-Ethernet line to connect the LAN port of the router to the common port of the hub. Finally, use an ethernet cable that is non-crossover) to connect the common port of the hub to the NIC of the computer. Note that if the UpLink port of the hub is applied, the No. 1 common port of the hub cannot be used at the same time. After the cables are connected, observe the panel indicators of the routers and hubs to check whether the network connection is correct.
Next, we will start setting. Set the IP address of each computer to automatically get, the DNS address to automatically get, and the gateway is empty. Then, run the IPCONFIG command at the DOS prompt. If the IP address such as 192.168.1.X is obtained and the gateway is 192.168.1.1, the router works properly. Open the browser and enter: http: // 192.168.1.1, enter the vro management interface, enter the password to log on, set the PPOE mode in the SETUP option, and fill in the username and password of the ADSL dial-up. After storing the information, restart the vro, in the Information option, click Connect. Soon, you will find that you have already accessed the Internet by dialing. In this case, other computers can also access the internet. For more information about firewall settings, see the manual.
Example 2:
A new organization is ready to use ADSL to share the Internet. Therefore, when networking, we need to minimize the cost. Therefore, instead of using a hardware router, we use a PC for employees to work normally, the Wingate software is installed to implement the functions of the hardware router. It also selects network hardware such as the ADSL modem of Zhongxing and Lenovo's hub, and designs the following networking scheme for it. See figure 2.
The key to this networking lies in the settings of Wingate software, which is a firewall-enabled multi-protocol proxy server system software. WinGate can provide Internet access sharing services for LAN users through a computer. Multi-Protocol means that WinGate supports almost all Internet protocols, such as HTTP, FTP, POP3, VDO, and RealAudio, users can browse the home page, send and receive emails, transfer files, and enjoy videos and audio without restriction. This is no different from each user's separate use of an inbound account.
Install WinGate server software
WinGate is available in Windows 9x and Windows NT. This document uses Windows 98 as an example.
1) configure the network card in the LAN, and add TCP/IP to the network card and press the mouse left to hit the network neighbor.
Click properties to open the Protocol window. The TCP/IP protocol is displayed in the component. In this window, there are usually dial-up adapters or network adapters, depending on which Internet connection type is used. Click "add" to select the protocol, and then click "add" to select Microsoft in the left-side window, select TCP/IP and click "OK" on the right to close the previous window and click "OK" to restart Windows.
2) tumble to find the added TCP/IP protocol and configure the internal Nic according to the following steps:
Select this list and click Properties. In the displayed window, click "IP address" and click "specify IP Address". In the IP address bar, enter 192.168.0.1 In the subnet mask column: 255.255.255.0 click the DNS configuration label. Do not make any changes in DNS click "OK" click "OK" and restart Windows
3) install WinGate software on this machine. Please select "server" as prompted during installation. After the installation is complete, restart the machine.
Install the WinGate Client
1) configure the NIC inside the LAN. Right-click the network neighbor.
Click properties to open the Protocol window. The TCP/IP protocol is displayed in the component. In this window, there are generally dial-up adapters or other network adapters. This mainly depends on which Internet connection type is used.
Click "add ".
Select the protocol, click "add", select Microsoft in the window on the left, and click "OK" on the right to close the previous window and click "OK" to restart Windows.
2) Configure TCP/IP on the workstation.
Configure the workstation to automatically/dynamically obtain the IP address, using DHCP:
Left-click Network Neighbor
Click Properties
Find the TCP/IP component of the NIC and select
Click attribute key and click "ip address"
Select the automatically obtained IP Address
Click the "WINS configuration" tab.
Select "Disable WINS resolution"
Click the "DNS configuration" tab. here you need to know whether the DNS of the WinGate server is "disabled" or "started ".
If the DNS on the WinGate machine is "Enabled", follow these steps:
Select the "disable DNS" button
Click "OK" to restart the machine and go to step 2.
If the DNS on the WinGate machine is "Disable", follow these steps:
Select "Enable DNS"
Enter the host name, which cannot be duplicated in the LAN. A simple name, such as "computer2", can be used as the host name.
The domain name field is left blank.
Enter the IP address of the ISP's DNS server in the "DNS" server search sequence ". The ISP will provide you with the IP address. If you do not know the IP address, you can ask them.
"Domain suffix search order" is left blank
Click "OK"-you will need to restart the machine-go to step 2
3) install the WinGate Internet client program. And install a file on the WinGate machine. You can place the file on the disk and install it from the network. Select "client" for installation as prompted. Once the installation is complete, the machine needs to be restarted.
4) test TCP/IP
Run ping 192.168.0.1 and the result is:
Pinging [192.168.0.1] with 32 bytes of data
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes = 32 time <= 10 ms TTL = 32
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes = 32 time <= 10 ms TTL = 32
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes = 32 time <= 10 ms TTL = 32
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes = 32 time <= 10 ms TTL = 32
Verify that the network is connected. Run this command to Ping any domain name, such as www.download.com.cn. the following result is displayed:
Pinging www.download.com.cn with 32 bytes of data
Reply from 192.168.0.4: Destination host unreachable
Reply from 192.168.0.4: Destination host unreachable
Reply from 192.168.0.4: Destination host unreachable
Reply from 192.168.0.4: Destination host unreachable
It indicates that DNS works properly and everything goes well. Finally, after setting the dial-up options, you can enable multiple computers to access the Internet over one line.
Conclusion
In the Information Economy Era, more and more institutions and enterprises will gain great convenience from the Internet, and commercial applications and multimedia services on the Internet will also be rapidly promoted, the Application of ADSL Broadband Access technology will become more and more extensive.
