Traditional hard drives are very slow to improve performance because of the limitations of their working principles. But the solid state hard disk price is expensive, in a short time is difficult to accept by the ordinary user. Therefore, the use of two or more pieces of hard disk to build a RAID disk array has become a more cost-effective hard disk performance improvement solution. We have also tested before, two hard drives to build RAID0 disk array in performance than before there will be 33.3%~203% performance improvement, one times the price for such a high performance improvement can be said to be more cost-effective. Let's take a look at how to build a RAID0 disk array with two hard drives.

Note: RAID0 data security is poor, if a hard drive error, all data loss, more for personal users, no value data content.
RAID1 after RAID5 array is recommended on the server

To build an Intel article on the RAID0 disk array:

Currently available motherboards, whether Intel chipset or AMD chipset, can basically support the construction of a variety of disk array mode, so it is very easy to build a RAID0 disk array. First of all, we prepared two hard disk, while the motherboard on the original operating system of the hard drive first unplug, so as to avoid confusion when setting up the hard disk data before the destruction is a pity.

Next, we start the computer, after the boot screen press the DELETE key to enter the Intel chipset motherboard BIOS settings, press ←→↑↓ to find the storage configuration option.

Then press ENTER to enter the storage Configuratlon option, turn on the RAID option in configure, and then press F10 to save this setting and restart the computer.

After the system reboot, pay special attention to the boot screen, then the system will remind you to press Ctrl+i into the RAID settings interface, if not in time to press Ctrl+i enter will have to restart the computer.

After entering the RAID settings interface, we can see that the interface is divided into two parts. The above section is the operating interface, there are 4 options: 1 option is to create a RAID disk array, 2 option is to delete the raid disk array, 3 options for the recovery of the hard disk is not raid state, 4 option is the Backup volume option. The following sections are the system's hard drive information and the build RAID disk array information.

Here we select the 1 option, and then the above image screen appears. Here in the name area, we can specify a raid name and press [tab] or [Enter] to enter the next area. In the RAID level area, we can select RAID levels. Next we select a string-column optional value for the RAID array, ranging from 4kb to 128kb, with different modes corresponding to different ranges: raid0–128kb, RAID10–64KB, raid5–64kb. Finally, the capacity of the volume is selected in the capacity area, and the default value is the maximum capacity of the selected disk. Select all and press Y to save.

In this way, a simple two-block hard drive RAID0 disk array has been set up. From the above, we can see that the formation of the RAID0 disk array of information and content, then press the 5 option or ESC to exit the settings interface.

Build the RAID0 disk array AMD article:

AMD chipset build RAID0 disk array is also simpler, but not the same as Intel on the options. Also after the boot screen press DELETE key to enter the BIOS setting, press ←→↑↓ key to find storage configuration option.

Press ENTER to enter the storage Configuratlon option, turn on the RAID option in both SATA PORT1-PORT4 and SATA port5-port6, and then press F10 to save this setting and restart the computer.

After the system reboot also pay special attention to the boot screen, and note that with the Intel motherboard slightly different, here is to press ctrl+f into the RAID settings interface, if not in time to restart the computer.

After entering the RAID settings interface, you can see that there is a significant difference between the Intel motherboard interface. From top to bottom is divided into 4 options, 1 is view Drive assignments view, 2 is to establish disk array and definition interface, 3 is to delete the disk array interface, 4 can view the SATA controller configuration, we select the 2 option to enter.

After entering the 2 option, press CTRL + C to create the raid to the above image interface. Press the up and down arrows to jump to different options, and press the SPACEBAR to change the value. Set us up here the same as before, select the RAID0 option, the optional value is 128kb, and note that assignment here both hard drives have to choose the Y option.

Then press Ctrl+y to save, and the image above will appear, and we can specify a raid name that we like. Then the ctrl+y confirms that the hard drive initializes and deletes data from the two hard drives.

Once again, the RAID0 disk array information interface is displayed, as shown in the previous illustration, and the last time you exit the restart computer. To this, the AMD chipset's hard disk RAID0 disk array is formed.

Summary: from the current hard disk development, although the current disk disc capacity has reached 667GB, the cache has also broken through to 64MB, but in the transmission speed did not improve significantly. With the popularization of a variety of large capacity applications and high-definition video playback, image processing applications such as, the speed of the user on the hard drive more and more high, a single hard disk in performance and speed has been unable to meet demand. The formation of RAID0 disk array can not only meet the needs of the capacity of everyone, but also can effectively improve the performance of the hard drive, so that the performance of the entire system to rise again a step.

However, I also want to remind you here, although the formation of RAID0 disk array in the performance advantage is very large, suitable for such as graphic design, games, high-definition video playback and other user applications. But in the data protection capacity is still relatively weak, if a disk failure, the data will be all lost, so we have to according to their own needs and practical applications to choose whether to choose this mode.
