Environment: Operating System: Linux for S/390
Problem: Installing Linux for S/390 requires software products other than the Operating System. Generally, you can use resources that are free of charge or software tools that are stored on the system installation disk, here are two useful tools.
Answer: Telnet PuTTy:
This tool is a product recommended by IBM. It is provided on the SuSE Linux for S/390 installation disk and provides links on the Linux for S/390 webpage. The tool has the advantages of small software, simple installation, color display, and convenient use. When you access the Linux system via Telnet, you may see an error screen or garbled code when using other Telnet tools. PuTTy can avoid these problems.
FTP tool Serv-U:
This tool is also small and practical. It can be used not only as an FTP Server, but also set different access paths and read/write permissions for different users. When installing the Linux for S/390 software package through FTP, you can start the software on the client to activate an FTP server.
