Typical IEEE 802.11b Solutions

Due to its convenience and scalability, IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN is particularly suitable for small office environments and home networks. In an indoor environment, there are different typical solutions for different situations.

　　1. Peer-to-Peer Solution

Peer-to-Peer solution is the simplest application solution. You only need to install a wireless network card for each computer to access each other. If you need to connect to a wired network, you can install a wired network card for one of the computers. Other computers in the wireless network can use this computer as the gateway to access devices such as wired networks or shared printers.

However, the peer-to-peer solution is a point-to-point solution. computers on the network can only transmit information one to one, but cannot simultaneously perform multi-point access. If you want to implement the interconnection function like a wired LAN, you must use the access point.

An access point is equivalent to a hub in a wired network. A wireless access point can connect to a nearby wireless network terminal to form a star network structure. At the same time, the 10 BASE-T port is connected to the wired network, so that the entire wireless network terminal can access the resources of the wired network, you can also access the Internet through a vro.

When the network size is large and exceeds the coverage radius of a single access point, multiple access points can be used to connect to the wired network separately, thus forming a wireless network with multiple access points as the backbone of the wired network, all Wireless terminals can access the network through the nearest access point to access the resources of the entire network, thus breaking the limitation of the coverage radius of the wireless network.

A wireless access point also serves as an extension of a wired network. For example, in a factory workshop, the workshop has a network interface connected to a wired network, while many information points in the workshop are expensive due to the long distance, and some information points are poor due to the poor surrounding environment, no cabling is available. Because the distribution of these information points exceeds the coverage radius of a single access point, we can use two access points for wireless relay to expand the coverage of the wireless network.

For application environments with high network reliability requirements, such as finance and securities, once the access point fails, the entire wireless network will be paralyzed, causing great losses. Therefore, two access points can be placed in the same location to implement a redundant wireless backup solution.

When deploying a wireless network in a building or on a large plane, multiple access points can be arranged to form a micro-cellular system, which is very similar to the micro-cellular system of mobile phones. The micro-cell system allows a user to roam freely in different access point coverage areas. As the position changes, the signal is automatically switched from one access point to another. The entire roaming process is transparent to users. Although the access point that provides the Connection Service is switched, the service is not interrupted.
