I like everything free. Linux is one.

I have been paying attention to Ubuntu Linux for a while. After a long time, I decided to use wubi to install a popular optimized version in China.

The final determination lies inWin7. Which version is selected? I noticed that the official Ubuntu 10.10 version will be released on the 10th, so I waited until the day before yesterday to download the image from the official website. This is the original version and the latest official version, that is, the original version and stability.

After countless failures, the installation was successful. To put it short, we made the following tutorials based on our experiences and online tutorials. If the content from the Internet does not indicate the detailed source, please forgive me. This tutorial takes the easiest operation as the highest principle!

Preparations (completed in win7)

1. Download the image file from the official website http://www.ubuntu.com/, and connect the image file to 700m. Download the latest version of easybcd for installation. Special statement: easybcd is a very good system boot software with powerful functions. The most important thing is the silly one-stop simple operation, which is extremely suitable for beginners !!! Grub4dos is widely used on the Internet. After my experiment, the operation is extremely troublesome and easy to guide and fail. It is strongly not recommended !!!

2. Open a disk and right-click it to format it and then delete it. Many people on the Internet say that the disk compression function is used to sort out blank partitions. I think that space is limited and it is not deleted yet. This disk is more than 10 Gb secure.

3. After easybcd 2.0 is installed, start the software:

Click the serial number (easily drawn, the word is ugly) and click "3" to display the following interface:

Click the button in the red box to open a file in notepad and paste the following code to the end of the file:

Title install Ubuntu 10.04

Root (hd0, 0)

Kernel (hd0, 0)/vmlinuz boot = Casper iso-Scan/filename =/Ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso Ro quiet splash locale = zh_CN.UTF-8

Initrd (hd0, 0)/initrd. LZ

For example:

At this point, the easybcd part is complete.

Put the downloaded Ubuntu ISO file below in the root directory of a disk and rename it 'ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso '(remember to change it to this name, that is to say, make sure that the file name of the downloaded ubutu image is the same !!!), Then, use the virtual optical drive or decompression software to open ISO, copy or decompress vmlinuz and initrd. LZ in the Casper folder directory to the C root directory.

Ii. Installation Process

Restart and select the neogrub bootloader startup Item to enter the Ubuntu Desktop. Do not click the Installation System icon on the desktop. Click application-accessories-terminal in the upper left corner of the desktop, enter sudo umount-L/isodevice, and press Enter. Www.linuxidc.com is mainly used to prevent the error "unable to detach a mount point" during installation. At this time, you can click Install Ubuntu on the desktop step by step and select install as prompted.

In this step, we recommend that you coexist with the original system. You can also select Custom partitions. For more information, see LINUX partition. 3. After installation

1. Modify the boot guide. After the installation is completed, you will find that the default startup system is ubuntu. Go to Ubuntu, click Application-attachment-terminal in the upper left corner of the desktop, and enter

Sudo mV/etc/grub. d/30_os-prober/etc/grub. d/06_os-prober,

You will be prompted to enter the password, which is the password you set when installing the system. Note that * encryption will not appear after you enter the password.

Is not displayed. After the input is complete, press enter and enter

Sudo Update-grub. Press enter.

2. Click restart in the upper-right corner of the desktop. The win7 boot item is already at the top and is default. Run easybcd after entering win7,

Remove the nerogrub boot item.

Appendix: How to partition the most scientific:

Common partitioning methods include:

/File system and swap partition;

/File system,/Home file system, and a swap Partition

For details, add multiple Linux directory trees, such as the/boot System and/var file system, and back directories that do not belong to the Linux directory tree. (You can set the name by yourself, or set the name to/file, this is where you store backup data)

Splitting one/and swap only has the advantage of maximizing the use of hard disk space (users can ignore hard disk space issues as long as/is not used up ), however, you must back up the data before reinstalling the system.

/Home, otherwise it will be troublesome to reinstall. If you provide a relatively small disk space for the OS, such as 8 GB and 10 Gb, it is better to use this method. Although after the default system is installed, the/file system only has 3 GB

But as you install more software, the/file system will become larger and larger.

However, it is dangerous to divide only one/partition, which means that all data will be stored in the only/file system, this is not safe for the actual production system (just as we are using

Windows does not divide only one C disk ). If the space allocated to the OS is larger, you can mount/home independently, or you can separate others such as/BOOT AND/VaR as needed.

Mounting, which has some advantages:

(Separate/boot partitions)

1. Several different operating systems can share the same kernel for convenient management.

2. The Boot directory has less I/O access and is placed in a single partition to prevent inode corruption caused by reading and writing of other directories.

3. The old motherboard has 1024 cylinders. You can avoid this problem by dividing the first 1024 cylinders into one boot partition.

4 If raid or LVM is used, the Boot manager may not support it, and the kernel cannot be found. Therefore, the independent boot partition makes sense.

5. convenient use of tools such as DD for backup

6. You can mount the boot partition in read-only mode to increase security.

PS: If you like tossing systems and often reinstalling them, it is really useless to separate them.

If/boot is partitioned separately,/boot is the primary partition, And/partition does not have to be the primary partition.

Safe partitioning scheme principle: system data and common user data are separated and placed in different partitions (I .e., separate home partitions); infrequently changed system data and frequently changed system data points

It is separated from different partitions (that is, separate USR partitions and VAR partitions are used ).

Generally, at least a separate/home partition must be created in an actual system.
