Ubuntu 14.04 forgot the user logon password, ubuntu14.04

1. click "enable this virtual machine" in VMware Workstatiom. Note that when the system is started, click the screen first, the purpose is to switch the mouse from the VM to ubuntu for startup (otherwise, the gnu grun interface may not be displayed when shift is long below );

2. click the screen and then press shift. The system will go to the gun grub interface, as shown in figure 1; if you enter the interface shown in figure 2, the operation of this step fails. Do not try again.

3. on the gnu grub interface, select the ubuntu advanced option and press enter to go to the page shown in Figure 3. Select the recovery mode system release number in brackets. I tried it, in Figure 3, both of them can successfully change the password;

4. Wait... See the interface shown in Figure 4. Select the root option and press Enter;

5. Enter the root password at the bottom of Figure 5 and press enter to switch to the root user. In this case, enter this command ~ # Mount-o remount, rw/press enter, and then use the passwd user name to change the password;

6. Continue to enter exit to return to the interface shown in Figure 6. Select resume and press Enter. A confirmation interface is displayed, and then press Enter. Then .... Wait quietly for the logon interface. Hahaha, I wish you all success.
