0. My main installation environment
Cpu:athlon XP 1700+
Motherboard: Biostar M7VIP (kt333, onboard via82xxxx sound card)
Graphics card: ati9200
Hard drive: Seagate 7200.7
Network: Education network broadband, designated IP
1. Download the installation disk image file
Download Ubuntu-6.06-alternate-i386.iso (I do not use the desktop CD, because the education network can not be directly connected to the international network, I have in advance in the virtual machine test found in the desktop CD installation process to detect the source of apt to network for a very long time. In addition, it is said that the desktop CD will install grub directly into the MBR and the hard drive installation will not find the ISO.

2. Download the two files required for hard drive startup (do not use the ISO file itself)
Download initrd.gz and Vmlinuz
Education Network: ftp.sjtu.edu.cn/ubuntu/dists/dapper/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/

3. Use Grub boot hard drive installation
Save the above three files in the root directory of the FAT32 partition or ext3 or reiserfs partition, preferably not in an NTFS partition.
I'm saving it in Windows D-packing directory, Linux is represented as/DEV/HDA5, and is represented in grub as (hd0,4).
1 already in use Grub boot, do not have to download direct into 3 steps
2 Using Windows NTLDR boot
Download Grub
Old.ubuntu.org.cn/download/installformharddisk/grldr
Copy the Grldr to C:\ and edit the C:\BOOT. INI, join a line:
代码:
C:\GRLDR="GRUB"
3 Reboot the computer, go to the Grub menu, press C to enter the GRUB command line
According to the location of the downloaded three files, enter the following command and return:
代码:
grub> kernel (hd0,4)/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=32000 devfs=mount,dall
grub> initrd (hd0,4)/initrd.gz
grub> boot
