Ubuntu Desktop icon creation under Eclipse

$ sudo gedit/usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop

File, add the following:

[Desktop entry]encoding=utf-8  Name=Eclipse Comment=Eclipse IDE Exec=/ usr/local/eclipse/eclipse_sdk/Eclipse Icon=/usr/local/eclipse/eclipse_sdk/icon.xpm Terminal= false startupnotify=true  Type=applicationcategories=application;development;

Note: the "/USR/LOCAL/ECLIPSE/ECLIPSE_SDK" in the above content should be modified according to the location of their Eclipse folder

Then Copy the eclipse.desktop to your desktop by executing the following command:

$ sudo cp/usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop/home/yourname/desktop

Finally, modify the Eclipse.desktop file permissions on the desktop:

777 /home/yourname/desktop/eclipse.desktop
