The Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 operating system has been in the research and development cycle for some time, and today we can finally download the Beta 1 release for testing. As one of Ubuntu's official flavor, the Ubuntu Gnome team works very hard to integrate the GNOME desktop environment, and some GNOME applications have been upgraded to the Gnome 3.22 Beta Stack. |
Another interesting part of the Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 Beta release is the removal of the empathy IM client from the ISO image, the default installation of the GNOME characters tool, Gnome's initial setup utility, Allows users to configure the installation more easily.
Also in the new version you can see the experimental Wayland session (accessed on the login screen), and the recently released LibreOffice 5.2 Office suite, which uses the latest GTK3 version by default. Other aspects of Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 Beta version still use the Linux 4.4 lts kernel.
