Ubuntu network settings in VMware

Network Configuration:

After VMware is installed, there will be two default NICs, VMnet8 (192.168.83.1) and VMnet1 (192.168.19.1). Of course, the IP addresses of these two NICS will be different on different machines. In windows, these two NICs can be set to automatically obtain IP addresses. You can view the IP address. At the same time, we must also select VMware with two Network Connection Methods: Bridged and NAT. The former requires that the XP broadband connection (ADSL) be set to the sharing mode for use. This topic describes the NAT mode.

Windows Settings:

View the attributes of your Nic connected to the Internet, select the "advanced" tab, set to allow sharing, and set the allowed network interface to VMNET8 (NAT) (if it is bridge, it must be (VMNET1)

The VMNet8 Nic used in NAT mode mainly needs to know two important IP addresses: Gateway and DNS.

The first address (192.168.83.1) is a static address allocated to the VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 Adapter of the host computer Xp.

The second address (192.168.83.2) is a static address allocated to the NAT device.

(192.168.83.3 to 192.168.83.127) static address, retained.

(192.168.83.128 to 192.168.83.254): IP address range of DHCP scope, allocated to virtual machines.

Vmware settings

Set the network connection mode of Ubuntu in Vmware and select NAT

The IP address can be viewed Through vmware> edit> virtual networking settings. The default gateway is very important at this time.

Ubuntu settings:

Modify the network configuration of Ubuntu:

System> network> select etho and set the IP address to be automatically obtained. Add DNS and add Dynamic DNS obtained by nat in vmware

1) set the IP address, gateway, and mask. Vi/etc/network/interfaces, add the following content:

Iface eth0 inet static

Address 192.168.83.200

Netmask 255.255.255.0

Gateway 192.168.83.1

Auto eth0

2) Add DNS, vi/etc/resolv. conf, and add the following content:

Nameserver 192.168.83.1

3) effective:/etc/init. d/networking restart

4) if the broadband connection of XP is OK, test whether Ubuntu is OK. For example, ping www.itmop.com
